I'm kinda annoyed that I'm the only one in that thread who got warned for this when there's several others who posted similar comments. If this is against the rules then how come I'm the only one who got singled out?

Does the thread serve a purpose anymore? Is there a point to keeping it open? I'm asking because it seems like a controversial person dying will ultimately continue to lead to posts which are, at best, borderline gloating.

So what we've learned is that if people behave badly enough they can get threads they don't like locked., but won't be meaningfully punished.
