Hm. That thread did fall out of favour for a few weeks, but what's wrong with a thread that was still active last month being given a fresh run? Personally I think that thread has been closed too soon, it almost looks like the moderator that did the deed was exclusively trying to please Wikkiwallana instead of properly assessing the situation at hand.
