[Q] Why is the Midterm thread still a thing?

There probably isn't a proper means for this to be here, but as has been pointed out numerous times, the thread no longer services a purpose since the midterms are over and is now plagues by multi-page threadjacks and debate that fills me with existential dread.

So, to summarize: is there a reason mods haven't locked it yet?

Relevant to the stated topic of the thread, though?

The midterms are over and I don't think there's that much relevant discussion left to be had. Last I checked, the thread was on it's third or fourth multi-page run on talking about electoral reform and the pros and cons thereof.
