[R] Plagiarism

Hello. I initially posted a response on their OOC page, but I was urged to report it here so I'm doing just that.

Around two months ago, I posted The World Hit Network which was an IC Thread for the World Hit Festival contest.

This new thread, done by the user Indo States who is known by those who participate in the World Hit Festival, appears to have copied my work and changed a few things like the logo or some of the rules - but is still heavily influenced by my work - Here it is (Miss Millennial 2019.

Some things that are plagiarised are some of the sentences, the order of the posts + what each post is about, the graphics are similar (but obviously changed to suit his competition). I didn't get asked to use the format or any credits either.

He's also apparently copied other things from us that doesn't have to do with NationStates, but still shows that he gets his ideas from us.

I'm wondering whether this is actionable? Thank you anyway!

Sorry. I'm not seeing any plagiarism. Inspiration, perhaps, but nothing actionable. Is there some specific section you're concerned is plagiarized? While the rules themselves have some commonalities, nothing beyond what I would consider regular, concurrent development from such events as this. The most concerning I immediately saw was the "maximum amount of nations," bit, but that's not plagiarism so much as it is "you can only say something so many different ways."

If there are other specific portions you are concerned about, could you please quote them here with references to the sections of your thread you feel is plagiarized? I'll be happy to give them another look in that event.

I'm also not seeing where you posted in the OOC thread, nor where you may have deleted a post. Am I looking at the wrong OOC thread, or was it posted under a puppet account and I just happened to miss the post?

I mean, if it's not actionable then..it's fine - but since Indo States has used a lot of resources from both WHF and WorldVision to make their own contest, and asking permission to use it (eventhough that's on the discord and not here), I would've thought something similar was needed in this instance. Inspiration, sure, but it took quite a bit of time to decide what the thread would look like etc only for the idea to be taken

Giving this another look, as I said I would, I'm really just not seeing it. I have to agree with Nervun. There's only so many ways to say things, and I'm really just not seeing plagiarism here.
