I mean, I've run into this a lot. We've got so many strictures put into place to keep us from arbitrarily doing anything. We're not allowed to self-moderate, we're asked to not moderate in threads where we've been active, we hold ourselves to stay out of things that we know we have conflicts of interest or cannot be impartial on...

I mean, honestly, we MIGHT flip out and yell the same any other player would if buttons get pressed, but we're be doing the same thing any other player would. The notion that somehow we'd start deleting people... So I'm just really not sure why we're that intimidating.

Well, I know I haven't been hallucinating the rift between the staff and the NS community for the past 4 years, so I'll just sum up what I think of everyone else's responses below:

I've been hearing about that "rift" for a lot longer than 4 years. There have been times when it was much worse, and there have been times when I was one of the people dissatisfied with Moderation, but NS is still here and there has never been a time when all of the ordinary players were united in being at odds with Moderation. It's always been some people like the mods and some don't.

I'm guess I'm unique then. I don't dislike the mods. I dislike the situation the mods are in, 'cause it hurts all of us in the end.

In December of last year, during a chat with other NSers on Discord, I discussed your tendency to use the "casual reader argument" in your rulings, and there was a consensus that it's your own terrifying (and slightly irritating) signature move. So, you have that.
