Frankly I look forward to the day when this is barely a question that is asked. Perhaps when great-grandchildren read about "racial purity" in text books the same way we read about divine right of kings etc.

Except for it doesn't work like that at all. From a white individual's persepctive, a person who is half black and half white is obviously black due to having darker skin. Yet the opposite is actually true for that same person if you take the perspective of many black people. My brother's girlfriend, for instance, gets called white by many of her black friends due to her mixed lineage. She is black to white people and white to black people.

In other words, race is all about perspective. There is nothing immutable about it.
