Flag theft

Postby Fictions » Sun Jun 21, 2009 3:41 pm

I don't want to complain but while browsing II i found that the nation known as Unilisia has, withiut my permission, taken and used the flag that I have made I don't like this because it was me who made it and I never gave them permission to use it.

Here, a screenshot proving that he/she done it

And link both to the edited and unedited version of the flag that I have made, as you can see the URL places the photobucket account as XresNTAP which is my account, the same account as the URL to the above screenshot.

I understand that this is a trivial matter but it actually upsets me that someone uses something I have made and passes it off as their own

Send a message to the guy then, just ask him politely to take it down.

Is there a rule against this? Is he really passing it off as his own? Are the players that use the US flag pass that design off as their own? If asked, does he claim he designed it himself? Does that mean the countries that use the flags of real nations need to contact those countries' embassies to get permission to use those likenesses? Is your flag design trademarked? Have you contacted that player directly before complaining here? You statement that it is trivial is true. Don't get so worked up about it; take it as a complement that someone liked your design so much.

1. I don't think there is a rule against it, i just don't like theft
2. I don;t know he has not answered my TG
3. What has a RL flag got to do with anything, It is not player made
4. No, it's not trademarked this is a game
5. Yes I have, he has not replied
6. If he wanted to use it he should have asked, I know it's good that someone liked it but I still would appreciate being told, its common courtesy

I don't think you do, or you wouldn't be getting so upset about it.

...and how is it 'theft'? You put it out there where it's easily downloadable on an open site with no rules about such downloads. If there is no rule against downloading that image, it's not trademarked how is it stealing? To quote one of my favorite movies - 'you keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.'

I do know it is trivial, but that does not stop being upset by it, just because a matter is unimportant to the eyes of the majority does not mean it is to the person whom the act was done against.
