Laissez le Bon Temps Rouler -- Obligatory Mardi Gras Party

Postby Shazbotdom » Tue Feb 21, 2017 4:28 pm

GREETINGS MODERATORS/ADMINS/VIOLET/HIS HOLINESS MAX!

So, in keeping with tradition (well, I made this crap up last year, but whatever), I wanted to wish everyone on the team a very happy Mardi Gras (even if you don't celebrate it, you know who you are). I have brought, fresh from Haydels Bakery, a KING CAKE!

Whoever finds the little plastic baby has to get the next one, btw.

Image

And here's some Beer to go with it. Don't let anyone know that I brought this because it's supposed to be a Louisiana Only beer.

Heh, the only holiday with Christian connotations that I actually voluntarily celebrate.

If only because of the funny costumes, and the parade where (local) politicians get made fun of. Also, because my Southern roots compel me to 8)

Have any of you ever eaten in New Orleans? How is everyone not fat every day, with that kind of superlative cuisine?

I'm not sure how anyone can live in New Orleans. I was there last summer, and every time I went outside I almost felt like I was swimming.

I highly recommend it. Muriel's on Jackson Square was amazing, but spendy. And the Acme Oyster House - it's a franchise with several locations in the area - tremendous food. :)

If I had to suggest any restaurants in Southern Louisiana, I'd have to say my top two restaurant choices are Deanie's Seafood Restaurant and Sal and Judy's in Lacombe.
That's just my opinion, though. Southern Louisiana isn't exactly a place you have to be careful cuisinewise, since we've got any food your heart could desire*.

Considering that it felt like that every-time I went outside, I would have had to stay in my hotel the entire time.

There are several good Cajun places, depending on where you are. Nawlins BBQ and Craft Beer House in Kanagawa Prefecture was always delicious, especially the pulled pork. I don't know if it's still there. Near Okinawa? Warren & JJ`s Place's etouffee is some of the best outside the States.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.
