[Question] Nazi-esque nation RP

So, I was thinking of starting a different sort of RP here on the forums (Different part of the forums, not in gameplay), was just gonna be myself unless others joined. I was going to make a new nation for it, when I had a slight thought that some people might find it offensive, even if it's somewhat obscure.

I was going to RP as Belgium in 1912, the time in which the Congo Free State was in full swing in production and harvesting of natural resources. Leopold II was known as "the second Hitler" by many for what was done in the Congo Free State, so I thought it might be somewhat against the rules to RP as such a thing. Any idea if it would be allowed?

This board isn't a roleplay board. The N&I boards are for roleplays related to your NS-country; roleplays not related to your NS-country would be best placed in P2TM. Beyond that, it's not against the rules to roleplay as an "evil" nation, insofar as it has a purpose and isn't just for "shock value," to post gore, or otherwise violate the PG-13 Rule (or any of the others). But yes, to reiterate the point: we get all manner of "evil nations" on NS - including ones who perform all manner of war crimes, crimes against humanity, etc. This is about the separation of "In-Character" and "Out-of-Character"; generally, if it has a valid purpose - "adds to the narrative," so to speak - it's generally fine, unless it becomes excessive (see Offensive Material). I will note, however, that "IC" isn't an excuse to break the rules; if it appears you're writing a roleplay just to troll, flame, or generally be malicious, it will be acted upon accordingly.

Generally what you've described would fit in one of two places, depending upon how you went about it. If you create a new account (say, "The New Belgian Empire," as a random example), that would constitute your "NS-country" and be in what we call "Past Tech" and would generally be best roleplayed on the National & International Roleplaying boards; sure, it may be based on a real-world nation, but isn't actually roleplaying that real-world nation. If, instead, you are simply thinking of setting your roleplay in a real-world nation - the Congo Free State, for example - where characters interact and live out their lives, as that is a real-world nation and not your NS-country, that'd be best placed in Portal to the Multiverse.

The fundamental dividing line there is if the roleplay in question involves your NS-country in some way, or doesn't. If it does? N&I RP. If it doesn't? P2TM.

As someone who RPs "evil" nations on here quite a bit I figured I could help with this a little.

The main issue with the type of RP you've described tends to be that they turn into circlejerks for people's underlying racists attitudes so they eventually devolve into people using racist termd they're not allowed to use normally or they turn into excessive gore fests where people go into intricate details about what they're doing and then when moderation swoops in they cry "BUT IT'S JUST IC"

What I would suggest instead of focusing on the less savory parts is instead place that in the background and focus more on why your characters are doing what they're doing, any sort of "evil" that's well written doesn't actually consider itself "evil" they generally view their actions as just and necessary and not "ZOMG I'M SO EVIL"

Make it tasteful and well written and not overtly unsavory and you should be fine and have several participants

There's more to being a Nazi than shouting "Heil Hitler!" and "Let's gas some Jews". Somehow that idiocy has become a meme amongst 13-year-old edgelords, and those are the nations we delete.

If your Nazi roleplay concerns itself with the social and economic factors that brought about the rise of National Socialism, that's fine. If it's just about racial purity, killing minorities, and blowing shit up while being evil, that's not fine.
