Should we have guidelines on "why does anyone care" posts?

Who needs it, who got it, who hands it out and why.

I guess what I'm saying is, one liner "lol none of this matters" posts should be looked at, but there are times where the actual importance of a topic can legitimately be questioned, especially if the poster can explain why they think it is unimportant.

This is stupid, and unworthy of conversation is still a legitimate point. It is up to the orginator or defenders of the point to make it. A contrary arguement does not have to be long and weighty.

Bullshit is a legitimate response to something, As long as it attacks the point and not the poster, it should be ok.

I agree with the kitty cat.

In addition: Usually these kind of posts can just be ignored, anyway. If not, and the way it was phrased is too trollish or flamey, the Mods should treat it as one.

We have Mods for this exact purpose: to identity posts that are worth punishing for and those that are not. If you want a specific rule for each "kind" of post that is actionable you might as well write a Moderation script and kick out the Moderation team.

If someone says "why does anyone care?", I'd see it as a legitimate question and then answer accordingly with my arguments.

If someone says "no one cares lol", that could be trolling, again depending on context (it may be actionable in news threads, but not in chat threads)

Incidentally, has anyone else noticed an increase in people asking such questions, even on fairly established threads? Or am I imagining things because it's on my mind?

I would tend to think of such posts, especially if they are not accompanied by a well-thought out explanation of their position, as spamming. (Your mileage may vary, each case is different, etc.)
