The thread wasn't about flag rules, it was about mods issuing warnings/bans they shouldn't have and censoring people who don't agree with them.

Well Reppy, the way I see it there are a bajillion signatures that need to be edited, or apologies sent out for deleting flags that have similar material. Where is the forum for signature debates?

It would be easier just to incorporate a "Grief Region" button, so you wouldn't even need to make the effort to do the actual raiding. Players could just bounce from region to region and destroy everyone else's efforts at will, without even bothering about WA status. Wouldn't that be nice. -Frisbeeteria

Back on the topic of flags, I guess with the removal of the "DEATH TO MODS"-like flags it keeps this whole spilled-over situation from becoming even more spilled-over and causing even more problems that would eventually become too much for Moderation to handle.

Just a general note to folks. A lot of you seem to be demanding answers now and expecting to get them *right now*.

Remember, Moderators are human beings too. Most of them aren't even here right now, and are probably off at work or doing other things or still too busy being American and Free, and I'm honestly amazed Reppy is bothering being here either to hold down the fort this late at night. How about we all cool down just a tad, give it a day or so for the Moderator Team to come together and achieve a solution as a team, and then go back to rioting once we've got an actual answer from a combined Moderator Team. Yeah, Reppy is a high-up, but I doubt she can decide to just make every sweeping change you're demanding for now without consultation with the rest of the team.

So how about we all go to sleep, enjoy the World Cup games tomorrow, and then all re-group back here for some rioting after a nice respite for all involved parties. Sound fun?

Relating to the flag warning and DEAT incidents. Thus, it applies.

The flag is related to the actual topic, the mishandling of an incident. Not the other way 'round.

1) As many of you have guessed, I was the one who took action regarding flags under the contentious politics/flamebaiting rule since they appeared actionable to me based on previous experience with NSG flags regarding things like abortion and Obamacare.

2) Fury has since locked in on the 'flamebaiting' foundation of this precedent and, as such, only those flags that call out individuals should have been actionable.

3) As such I have gone through and reversed all deletions (that I am aware of) based on 'It's Only Politics" flags rather than directed resignation flags and personally apologized. I have also rescinded all warnings for "It's Only Politics" flags that avoided calling anyone specific out.

4) I apologize for this misinterpretation of precedent and the extreme discontent it has caused. I shall endeavor to prevent a recurrence.

5) However, it must be stated for future reference that flags calling out specific individuals, as per the linked post above, will remain actionable--whether they call for resignation or support, since the resignation calls will flamebait the supporters and the support flags will flamebait the protestors.

What about in Ambroscus Koth's case where he uploaded a flag that said he loved Mall? Which he's a friend of Mall.

I still think we're walking an extremely dangerous line when you say that we're not allowed to support anything using our flags, Scol. Does this apply to the rainbow flags of the LGBT community? The list goes on and on. Thank you for your apology and reversals, but there is still discussion to be had here.

In all fairness, the text did read "Mod Mall is Best Mall <3", so I understand where the warning came from. I consider myself a real friend of Mall's considering we live pretty close IRL, but that's not the point. I have submitted a GHR in regards to my situation.

To clarify:

So, if I had a "Mod Scolo is Best Scolo <3" flag, I would also be running afoul of the rules? Or is it only applied in this case when there just happens to be an angry lynch mob outside the gates?
