[Report] Signature Related (reports and mods only)

Given the number of oddball threads reporting folks with sigs that are too long, sigs with rule violating content, and so on, I'm making this thread for sig reports from here on out! :)

To report a sig, all I need is a link to the person's profile or at least their username so I can look 'em up myself. A note about whether the report is for a overlong sig, or a sig with rulebreaking material in it is also appreciated.

Only in extreme cases will I actually remove content from a sig that's too long; for the most part I can successfully cram most huge sigs within the line limit by way of the spoiler tag; I recommend anyone that wants to list tons of stuff in their sig do so!

Additionally, having an overlong sig isn't something that's going to get you deleted; generally I just trim it and tack a note on the player's forum account. If someone continually goes over the sig limit however, the response may need to escalate. I prefer to TG people who keep doing it before actually imposing any punishments, because it's really a silly thing to get banned over and most folks seem to catch a clue the first time or two their sig gets trimmed. Otherwise they generally get the message once a TG comes their way.

The rule on signatures; taken from The One Stop Rules Shop:

Signature Spam: Forum signatures give you space to include a few carefully selected links or quotes. Sigs are attached to every post, and must therefore conform to clutter-reducing rules. Maximum size should never exceed eight lines, including blank lines and quote lines. (A short quote takes up 5 lines - "quote", attribution line, two lines for the box, and one line for the quote). Large font sizes should be avoided and may be trimmed without warning. Posting forbidden links is not allowed.

Note: the eight line rule is calculated based on a standard desktop computer with a 1600 pixel widescreen monitor. Please don't bother reporting wordy sigs from your phone or tablet unless you're certain it has extra new lines, not just wrapped text.

Edit July 2014: Just wanted to point out that we now have the ability to remove sig editing privileges. The first edit is free. The second gets you a Voice Of Mod telegram. The third gets you a warning for sig spamming. The fourth will cost you your sig, permanently. Feel free to spread the word to sig abusers.

Spoiler tag would probably be in order for Ostronopolis.

The current sig rule from jolt doesn't include a definition of how many lines a spoiler tag takes up. Perhaps that'd be useful?

Well at the moment I'm treating spoiler tags as roughly 2 lines myself because of the button and the spacing. I wouldn't call that an official ruling, but a sig that has a spoiler tag to shorten itself is less likely to need trimming in the first place. Or at most, a repositioning of where the tag begins and ends to fit well within the 8-line limit.

Unless there's a line I'm missing, that one actually squeaks in at 8 lines on my screen

memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1417 could use a bit of a trime in that case, yes?

Well, he took the spoiler off. You should TG him that you put that spoiler in there due to his sig being over the 8 line maximum rule.
