Both of these just barely squeak in at 8 lines on a 1280 x 1024 resolution, so they're okay.

Since you're around (I think) Reppy, answer the question - Even on the largest of resolutions, if it passed 8 lines, but, it was a single paragraph without the enter button ever being used on the sig creation, would it be over 8 lines, or would it be a single line that wrapped around 8 times?

It would be a single line that wrapped, but it would still be over 8 lines long visually. Since the point of the line limit is reducing visual clutter, the number of times you press enter doesn't factor into things. What counts is how many lines it visually takes up. Which of course is why sig length is not a warnable offense because it can be quite easy for someone on a high-res screen to run over without ever intending to.

Pretty much this: I kinda figure in this day and age 1280x1024 is probably on the low end for the majority of computer users, so it probably works reasonably well as a line-counting metric without being unreasonable. (Because not everyone is like my idiot supervisor at work and still in the Dark Ages of 640x480.)
