Sure - you're entitled to a second opinion.

I didn't see it as actionable, as while it wasn't phrased politely, there didn't seem to be any intent to annoy (particularly given his clean record) - rather an expression of Horsefish's dislike of the slightly bizarre American fascination with claiming centuries-old heritage.

Here's an American take on the 'tude there:

Yes, ok. A lot of us do take an interest in historical ties, and genealogy and the like. And at times, perhaps given our reputation as being such a 'young' nation, we get wrapped up in the 'how far back can you trace' and 'where are your roots' business.

We're not the only ones to do so, but for us, it appears to be more borrowed than others, who are still living in and around their countries of origin. It's a fair cop, if not put very politely. It's not enough to get one's britches in a bundle over is all.
