Request reopening of thread

This thread was locked because the previous thread was locked and it's "not fully resolved". Which is a bad reason, since my new thread is based on a completely different question albeit based on the same story. There's no good reason to lock my new thread.

"It was locked for a reason."
Yes, the old one was - because of the trolling and the heated discussions about rape. And that's why the new tread distances itself from rape as a subject. Nothing in the OP suggests that the new thread would follow down the same path.

"Let's not restart it without it having been fully resolved please"
Again, nothing in the topic of the new thread is connected to the troubles in the old thread. Nothing about the OP in the old thread needs resolving. What, exactly, are we waiting for?

"(which for a thread of that size takes some time)."
A thread of a mere 12 pages, in which three moderators have already participated over half a day ago and at least in part gone through it... Hmm...

Transnapastain said in the previous thread that "the majority opinion on the topic has been made quite clear and the rest is a rehash of every other rape thread ever". I agree. And that's why the new thread - based on that majority opinion - is substantially different from the old one, and why I've specifically mentioned that we should stay away from rape as a topic.

No. Because it does involve the topic of rape, which is still being dragged into other topics across the board, because NSG. And it will devolve into more of the same, given the repeated examples of where these discussions invariably go. And it is part of the previously-locked discussion, pointed out quite clearly by yourself in your op.

Then edit out the rape part and my link to the previous thread, and we should be good to go.

Again, no. Thank you.

You're welcome.

I request a second mod opinon, as I have no confidence in Dread Lady Nathicanas abilities.

Given,

No.

Please wait while the original one is reviewed.

Thank you for a speedy (yet disappointing) response.

Now that moderators have managed to go through all 12 pages of the previous thread, can I beg leave to have my new thread - which has got nothing to do with rape - reopened (with the links to the previous thread removed, since apparently a thread about responsibility in the media *might* somehow turn into a discussion about rape if they remain)?

Remember to remove the part about "(let's stay away from rape this time around)" too. Must make sure posters aren't fooled into thinking it's actually a thread about rape.

My suggestion is to start an entirely new thread.

Keep the poll and the bulk of your OP, but change the title so it has no connection to the locked thread, and remove all the links to the locked thread in the OP.

You're correct in noting that your new topic is not overtly about rape, but by making it such an overt sequel to the previous thread, you are - however inadvertently - inviting people to continue the discussion that led to the lock and extensive moderator action last time around.

Thank you, it remained very unclear whether such an edited reboot would have been accepted (based on statements by other moderators), so I appreciate the concise response. :)
