Possible Flaming?

Are you saying everyone has to believe that there are ponies?
For not wanting to interfere with others rping you seem to do a lot of interfering

Also you want to know why people are fine with orcs, elves, and whatnot?
because orcs and elves are not based on a poorly drawn, poorly written show (yes I have seen the show, know thine enemy)

But the main difference between people who like orcs and bronies is that bronies inject their poison into everything

and then when people say "We dont care about your retarded show" you assume that your being targeted, however if you just stopped spamming this crap all the time you'd fine that no one cares what you do or what show you watch

Emphasis Added.

Not actionable.

The statement was not actionable. The thread itself was nothing more than a spamfest, and was locked as such. Please see my statement here should there be any misunderstandings.

If this pony/anti-pony thing continues to be a problem, so help me, I will take up a discussion with the moderation team myself to see if we can't ban it entirely, just as we did the location threads in F7. And no, I do not say this lightly.

Wouldn't banning ponies be moderating role play?

Wouldn't something that gets to the point of being a constant pain in the backside for moderators to have to come in, clean up, warn, ban, close, move all the time be worthy of a ban?

I said if it gets to that point, I will ask about it. I did not say it had reached that point. Yet. We don't try to 'police rp'. We are however, tasked with policing the site overall, and sometimes that means closing an rp thread, warning players participating in an rp, and other such things. Having an rp thread does not mean you are free from moderator oversight.

I never said it did. You said you'd get a ban on ponies in RP if people continued to react poorly to it. You would be doing what you said you wouldn't be, policing role play. I don't understand why you would start now. That's all I'm saying.

There's precedent for it with the closing of all location threads in F7 after the players proved as a group, behaving individuals aside, that they couldn't handle the competition between them.

And I said, if you'll take a moment to re-read, that I would ask. I can't implement anything of the sort on my own, and would rather not - so long as players can behave, on all sides. Quite frankly, I don't think asking for some better behavior and marginally mature choices from players participating on the site is asking too much, all things considered.

As a point of order, we have at times regulated certain topics when they have proven to be far more problematical in terms of time spent on Moderation disputes than people actually RPing.

Ask some of the older RPers what they remember of the Furry fuss. If they're still around to be older RPers, they're the ones who had enough sense to figure out ways to enjoy RPd "enmity" without letting it spill over into RW personal animosity.

The rest dogpiled, and were DEATed. Ah, but the Game Mod Olympics were stellar that year ... :p

Oh gods. The furries. The slavers. The elves. The catgirls. The religion persecutors. The 'fill in the blank group of the day that is popular to attack'. And now, ponies. Yes, we have had our fill of fads, and the pro/anti foofaraw surrounding them over the years.

I just want the players involved to behave themselves, which is what we expect of any and all players utilizing the site. I know. I am SO mean to ask that.

For the record, I would like to apologize for my actions in that thread.

I shouldn't have posted a response to a thread that I intended to ignore, and I definitely shouldn't have continued posting. I got mad, and acted improperly, and for that I'm sorry.

I definitely hope that the Mods don't have to come down hard on Pony RP, and I'll do my part to try and make sure that the modhammer doesn't have to come down.

Although, I do have a question. Would the pony ban be an RP only ban? e.g. The Sugar Cube Corner thread in Arts & Fiction would not be locked because of any RP related trouble, yes?

As long as trouble stays out of it.

And again, we are NOT saying that we WILL be doing this, but it might be a possibility if things do not start improving.

I understand why the mods would be getting frustrated with the amount of anti-pony spam going around but if you were to decide to ban pony threads wouldn't that be punishing the wrong people?

Admittedly I'm probably going to be biased on this topic but it seems like the majority of the spam and actionable content is coming from the pony-haters who can't separate their OOC hate of the franchise from their IC actions. Banning pony threads would be giving this groups exactly what they wanted while the pony players (who largely have only been guilty of letting understandable OOC frustration with the aforementioned group slip into their IC play) are the ones who lose out.

I know it's only something you're thinking about but I felt that it was an argument that needed to be voiced.Perhaps it might be a better plan to just up the anti for a while when it comes to moderating pony threads. Announce that you'll give 24 hour bans when you'd otherwise give warnings, three day bans instead of 24 hour bans; DEAT instead of a week-long ban. Those that survive the purge will hopefully be the ones that can behave.

It should be noted that neither side has its hands, or hooves, clean in this.

Again, we'd like BOTH sides to consider their actions. We'd like BOTH sides to please think before submitting. We'd like BOTH sides to remember that this is just a game and to get all hot and bothered by it endangers this access to this game and their favorite threads.

BOTH sides, not one or the other, but all involved because it will take all involved to settle this down before we're forced to settle it for both sides.
