Reppy's Sig Workshop - A guide to building forum sigs

There are a couple of tricks you missed.

• First, always lead off with your Float tags, both left and right. If you follow that with a center aligned section, all three start on the top line.
• Second, you can get by with only one set each of float tags and one set of Align tags. Duplicating either creates a mess, and center Aligns add an unnecessary blank line. It's better to stack all your left, all your right, and all your center content under one set of tags each.
• Third, I always pair a Floatright tag with an Align Right tag. It just seems cleaner.
• Fourth, I forced centering by carefully adding blank lines and a period in each of the float tags. Since it's all contained in a single tag, there's an invisible box that the center alignment uses to center that whole section. If you want to hide those dangling periods, you can add a color=white tag if you've got characters to spare. I don't know how that will play on Dark themed browsers.
• Finally, Hippostania's deletion was justified. Give it up.

I just got a TG from the mods suggesting that I take out the table in my sig. However, I feel that it offers me better formatting options than the floatleft/floatright and align tags. Can you give me any alternatives?

Also, I noticed that Reppy's OP missed something I've been doing for at least a year on here, with regards to sig quotes, which is simply a link to a post containing all the quotes I like in the AQ thread. It allows me to save all the quotes, and doesn't add any extra lines to my sig.

I know that on Windows there's an alt key that will insert an "invisible" character of sorts. I think it's alt+0173, but I can't test it on my iPod and I just shut down my laptop for the night. I think it'll work on your sig.

I'm not seeing the problem, Aksun. The only way to shrink that box would be to eliminate the box. Leave the DEFCON box alone, and it'll still look balanced.

Can't be done. We've got [floatright] and [floatleft], but what you need is [floatcenter]. We don't have that one.
