What's the rule on usian threads or debates?

*I am a master proofreader after I click Submit.
* There is actually a War on Christmas. But Christmas started it, with it's unparalleled aggression against the Thanksgiving Holiday, and now Christmas has seized much Lebensraum in November, and are pushing into October. The rest of us seek to repel these invaders, and push them back to the status quo ante bellum Black Friday border. -Trotskylvania

As far as I can recall, after the 50+ page thread on Jolt, Katganistan banned them for a while, but we had one since then, and nothing since. The one we had since then was allowed to go on, if I recall correctly.

I would say for now, play it by ear. As long as it remains tasteful and within boundaries, I would not lock it.

It doesn't say "intended to piss off conservatives." The intent is to distinguish between people from the United States and people from other countries in North and South America. That it infuriates conservatives is just a side effect.

The side-effect doesn't equal any sort of desire to want to piss anyone off, it just happens to be there. I don't see anything wrong with it.

An admission from at least one person that the use of USian is intended to annoy.

I was refering to the fact that CI said

They're only conservatives.

Which seems to suggest that ones political beliefs make them ok targets to troll.

Please, let "it annoys me" be the new standard for a trolling warning. These fora will be cleared out within a day.

The term itself is not trolling. You're making it worse than it is, and while people like CI should not be making remarks like that since in Moderation it would get them into trouble AHEM, there is nothing to say you can't politely debate the term and its use. Getting offended over the word itself will create the link between the use of the word and the fact that it potentially annoys those who happen to call themselves conservative. The relation was born through this. It may annoy those who call themselves conservatives, but it also refers to liberals who are from the US. For this, I would leave it be and encourage you to go debate it nicely, and if you don't want to, avoid the thread entirely. Unless there is actual rule breaking.

Its sole use is to agitate people who take offence to it.

Trolling: posts that are made with the aim of angering people. (like 'ALL JEWS ARE [insert vile comment here]' for example). While Trolls often make these posts strictly in an attempt to provoke negative comment, it is still trolling even if you actually hold those beliefs. Intent is difficult to prove over the internet, so mods will work under their best assumptions.

Brogavia. We know the rules, you don't have to quote them. The sole intent is not to troll, if you would bother to read the exact quote in question. Grow a thicker skin. Not everything that annoys you is breaking the rules. Case closed.
