Excuse me? I'm going to pretend I didn't read that last part.

My point is that Hiddenrun's behavior in that thread is very similar to many other posters. I'm sorry, but I don't think his views, taken together with the fact that he was the only one who got reported, even though the OP had some rather choice trolling of his own on the second page (that I linked to above), is a coincidence. Sorry, but that's just a little bit too much BS for a sane man to swallow.

your excused XD
I'm not claiming it is a coincidence. I'm claiming you've got the causation wrong. You are claiming that Hiddenrun is being picked on for being a conservative. My response is that there are plenty of conservatives who do not get dragged into moderation. My counter claim is that Hiddenrun is a very very smart troll and you haven't picked up on it yet partially because he's using his (assumed or real) conservative outlook to mask his trolling. Your counter claim is that thats bullshit. I could be wrong . .happens all the time. . . but a more detailed explination of WHY you think im wrong would be appreciated.

I haven't read the whole thread yet, so am reserving judgment until I do. I got about ten pages through and then had to take a percocet and lie down; hacking through that jungle of offtopic and flamebait was tiring work.

Though Melkor and I haven't discussed politics, I'm guessing from our respective posts that we're usually at the opposite ends of the mods' political spectrum. I'd have modded that bitchfest the same way he has.

Posters are required under NS rules not to post trollbait or flamebait. Other posters are required under NS rules not to respond to trollbait or flamebait. That thread was getting to the stage where even participating in it meant the poster would be doing one or the other. Of course he's not going to start handing out warnings ad lib; it needs going through, it's a task that may take days, and it may happen that at the end of it all it's decided that everyone was equally to blame and it wouldn't be fair to single out individuals for warnings. Or it may come down to "Him! That one!" or "Lookit those three!"

But it'll be a modding decision, not a political one. Mods keep an eye on players, which is why Melkor posted on a trend he's noticed. Players keep an eye on mods, which is why some of you reacted as you did. No amount of reassurance from any of the mods is going to convince anyone who really wants to believe that their particular group is being persecuted. All any of us can say is that, as far as we can see, each of the mods does his or her best to make sure it comes down to what's legal and what's not under the TOSRS.

A document, incidentally, which would repay closer attention. It's stickied at the top of this forum. Check it out. Go on, do it for the lulz.

Melkor: [grabs Dawoad] Shut up! Will you shut up?!
Dawoad: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system!
Melkor: [shakes Dawoad] Shut up!
Dawoad: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help, I'm being repressed!

sorry couldn't help myself, more importantly i do realise this is a mod decision, I have read the One Stop Rule Shop (more than once :/) and I will have no problem with however you, kryo, melk w/e decide to handle this. i just took issue with what Melk claimed about the reason Hidden has been modded twice.

That bit about reading the TOSRS was one of those "now I'm going to sum up by saying something everybody should already know" lines, Da Woad. It was a scattergun, not aimed at anyone in particular.

That's not true in the least bit. Every single vocal conservative in NSG has been reported numerous times for unactionable posts to my knowledge. This knowledge stemming from my nightly moderation lurking (grown into the habit of always expecting another baseless attack on myself with which to defend against).

Excellent ruling.

Put it in the rules. Reply, or report. Don't do both.

For that matter, put your modly heads together and write a succinct set of "hints," "guidelines," "rules," "rulings" or whatever you choose to call them.

The One Stop Rules Shop is a very long stop.

Should perhaps be called the "Lots of fun but you won't get to sleep tonight Rules Motel."

At least, put a list of "don'ts" at the very top. In short sentences.

E.g. "Don't call other posters bad names."

The moongoose step: a combination of can-can, goose-step, and moon-step. I haven't perfected it yet.

I can however do John Cleese's Silly Walk, with elements of falling on my arse.

Forgive me for thinking that should be common sense, but if you met someone in real life, I doubt you would go out of your way to call them a name because they expressed a certain view. After all, you don't know who they are or how badly they will kick you ass.

It's called 'taking chances'. And surprisingly enough, I'm not dead yet.

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere in NS gotten a little more aggressive nowadays? I swear the GWO is invading a lot more nations than it used to etc... etc...

Is it just me, or have the posts in Moderation got a little more off-topic nowadays? I'm sorry, I've missed the apparently obvious connection between liberal/conservative opinions in General and the GWO's military adventures. But if we've got to that stage, the original subject's been sufficiently discussed. So what I'm going to do is, surprise, surprise, lock the thread and leave it to Melkor to say whatever else seems appropriate, if and when. Or possibly not. Whatever.
