How could one fix that, I wonder?

Option 1) GOOGLE IT
Option 2) LOOK AT THE DAMN EXAMPLE

Honestly, HOW have you survived this long on the internet without learning BASIC SEARCH FUNCTIONALITY? Because instead of solving this problem in seconds by using a SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH you decide it's much easier to IGNORE ALL POSSIBLE AVENUES OF SELF HELP and instead drag out a completely STUPEFYING question over the space of FOUR DAYS because it's easier for OTHER people to answer your question then for you to EXERCISE BASIC COMMON SENSE to figure it out?

This is of course ignoring the fact that this is a FAQ that DETAILS EXACTLY how to post an image, including a bloody EXAMPLE URL which should have answered your question immediately. But somehow I doubt you even bothered to read that, because that would require effort on your part.

Uniform Resource Locator.

so I logged in today but instead of showing my nation it showed my fiance's nation. I've logged out and back in but still shows my fiance's nation instead of mine

Try clearing your cache, that usually fixes that problem.

Whenever I go to click on 'Trend' in my nation, it just keeps redirecting me back to my nation's overview page. All the other tabs work fine though.

Works ok for me (on your page) ...

Are you able to view trend pages of other nations? If you login to a puppet nation (presuming you have one), are you able to view the Trend page on this nation?

Honestly, I'd think the best first step for you would be to clear your cache. There's probably something screwy going on there ...

I don't have a puppet nation, but its fixed now. The cache was full, I think.
Also did a moderator log me out to check my page? I refreshed the page and got logged out.

I doubt it. More than likely, your login cookie expired.

(Also, if you cleared your cache, that would probably clear your login cookie. I'm not sure in which order you did what.)

The Trophy list has been updated and I also added a section on how to code for Different Font Sizes.

Those seemed to be the main questions that had come up since the last time I'd updated this - with the exception of regional influence, which hasn't been addressed here yet. I'm trying to figure out how to best cover that, and I'm certainly open to suggestions if anyone has any to offer.

Could documentation for the various "float" tags ([floatleft] and [floatright]) and [blocktext] be included in this FAQ? I spent a good half hour trying to work out the kinks of floating images with this forum's interpretation of BBCode (I couldn't find much documentation online about actually floating images, beyond HTML representations, which ultimately helped, sort of).

I'd actually like to just write up an in-depth description of each and every tag in use on the NationStates forums and how to use it properly (and I mean every tag, not just the commonly used ones), including code examples, in a dedicated thread in this particular forum. I'm not sure if user-made tutorials/reference guides are appropriate for this forum, or if I should leave it to the mods to do.

I tried to stick to commonly used/asked about codes - and both of those are (I believe) covered in Reppy's "Custom BBCodes" thread. I'll admit needing some practice to make the float tags work, but I find that the blocktext is similar to blockquote in HTML, myself.

I believe the float tags are technically geared at images in posts. Of course, I've used it with text in my sig, but that required a lot more .... manipulation of stuff and previews to check alignment.

If you have further, specific questions, feel free to let me know, and I'll try to help. And, of course, if you do end up writing a real in-depth BBcode guide, please let me know, and I'll add a link in the coding section. I don't want to overwhelm this FAQ with coding minutiae that are not frequently asked about .... :)

Yes, I noticed that in your signature, and being unable to quote it (because it's a signature and doesn't offer that option), I was left with my curiosity. From what I understood, *only* images could be floated (based on the tooltip), but obviously that's not the case.

And I wasn't aware of Reppy's guide as an actual guide on a glance of the title, but that is sort of useful for those new to BBCode's more advanced features. Perhaps you could make a direct reference to that thread somewhere in the section of the FAQ for BBCode?

I've considered adding Reppy's thread - as well as the anchor tag, which is similar to the bookmark/<a name="x"></a> tag (which generates the index.html#x coding) - to this archive, but - like I said before - I'm afraid that that will be more confusing than helpful for some of the more coding-challenged individuals on this forum.

So far as my sig goes, here it is (with the coding behind a spoiler tag), if you want to see how I did it ...

Bottom line? I did the Float Right stuff first, and followed it with regular text. Float Left is generally unnecessary for text, although I suppose it could be used if you wanted to pair it with an Align Center third column of text. However, given the variable resolutions and screen sizes, that seems likely to cause more confusion for some users than be helpful. (Plus, the character limits on the sig tend to drive me crazy. I - once upon a time - had another spoiler off to the right with my nation's WA representatives listed, but it was cut due to character limits. Inserting coding/URLs tends to eat up characters pretty quick. :(

Anyhow, that's enough of a digression. You'll probably need to use preview a lot when using the float texts to be certain that the alignment of lines works out as you desire. That's probably less of a concern when you're dealing with images, but I don't input too many images into my posts.

If you have other questions, or if I can be of more help, please do let me know. :)

[a name=checkpoint][/a]

I'm not saying include his thread itself in the guide, but rather to just include a link to it somewhere in that section (like "Once you're comfortable with the basics of BBCode, check out Reploid Productions' guide on the forums' custom BBCode tags."). Just a suggestion, though.

And wait, there's an anchor tag? WAAAAAT? Reppy doesn't mention that at all in his guide, nor is it visible in the "toolbar" of available codes (then again, the [post] tag isn't present in the above-post listing either).

Care to explain this elusive anchor tag, and any syntactical differences between it and the similar <a> tag from HTML? Does it feature all or most of <a>'s attributes? I'm guessing it has some equivalent to the "name" attribute, and a destination attribute ("href" or "target", or some method in another tag).

We'll see. I'll definitely take that under consideration, at least. :)

I don't know that I was necessarily planning to include the anchor tag in the FAQ (since, again, it seems more complicated than what is required by the average user), but I was thinking that could be useful to use within this thread to link to specific answers of questions. :D

The relevant post in Reppy's thread is here.

It's the same basic theme, minus the [a href] part of it all.

I'm pretty sure that works, but since that will be the last post on this page ... the link doesn't work perfectly.

*grumbles*

So, I'm adding a few extra carriage returns so I/you/we can double check it out and make sure I didn't mess it up. (I haven't really used it much myself, to be perfectly honest - I just know it exists. :))

If you're interested in learning more coding tricks, check out Reppy's thread. She's got all sorts of nifty coding stuff in there. :)

P.S. Thanks for mentioning the post-tag above. I've been meaning to redo my sig using that versus URL tags for all the debate links. (Save on characters!) Now ... if only I could request a quick-link to UN/WA resolutions in the passed resolution list ...
