Honestly, I'm not sure if I like the new Default look or the Antiquity look better. I keep switching back and forth between the two.

Both have nice aspects, although that symbol on the grey area in the menu looks a bit crude. I would make it a bit smoother-lookin'

Loving the new theme, much better than the old one. Makes it look more busy than the last I like it.

I think it is perfect, I mean that quite literally, it was too minimalist before, but adding anything else would make it too busy, I can't stay on other forums because of their overbearing colouration, green, white and grey of NS is the perfect point of minimalism while the decorations keep it from being too austere.

[violet], I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the new theme, but your picture/flag thing seems to be overlapping the "online" banner thing on the forum. I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that before.

When I acess NS from my Iphone it gives me a cross between the new look and mobile. The RMB on it isn't bad, but the Regional Happenings have like 3 letters only per line and go on and on and on because of that.

Does the URL say "m.nationstates.net"? Does Regional Happenings look different depending on whether you're logged in or out?

You know what it fixed itself, but I like what happened to the RMB and it is still there where one half is the Nation and the other half is the actually message if that was intentional great work. If it wasn't I always forgot to bring up how frequently the RMB would change how it fit to my Iphone's screen frequently then change back at random.

The new theme change is great. The only issue with it is that it completely messed up the mobile version. Other than that, de nada. Just get NS Mobile fixed up, please. Thanks.

Congrats to Unicario, that's a very slick banner.

I have a little issue with the coastline (isn't it?) on the green globe: it was probably more recognizable as such without the Logout and Switch buttons over it. And in my browser (Firefox 3.6.7 I know, a bit old) those buttons overlap. If other people have that problem then the buttons will need to be repositioned anyway, so here's my suggestion: put Switch inside the coastline and Logout outside the coastline. In the sea hehe.

I don't know anything about xhtml so maybe none of this makes sense. Anyway, I like the new look.

In response to Violet (and others) regarding the OS button styles...
[violet] wrote:That's right, we've gone back to system default buttons (following generally negative feedback on the beta ones). These can look really good or really bad, depending on which browser & OS you use. We'll see how it goes.

North Mack wrote:Well even in the old default theme you at least had the buttons match the style of the site, frankly that would be much better looking in my opinion then system default buttons :/ Like or hate, they at least matched the theme of the site.

I prefer the white rectangular buttons, I thought they were stylish.

Also, imho, the banners on Conservative and Liberal could do with some updating.

I think the OS system defaults look fine. Many websites use the default buttons, because it is simply too hard to make sure they render the same in every browser. Now that Century has gone 'public release' and we've got the default OS buttons I think it looks good - using Mac OS with Safari + Firefox they render consistently the whole user interface. While the 'old' green buttons were cool, they didn't quite seem to work with the Century theme - which you obviously noticed as you trialled the white versions. Problem is, the white versions were less noticeable for some and appeared a little clunky.

Unless people seriously object to the default operating system buttons, is it really such a problem? I saw an interesting article about Google's custom buttons only yesterday, perhaps there is something to explore in that?

For the record, this is how they render on my screen with Mac OS X 10.6.6 with Safari 5.0.3: Image (sorry, wasn't sure how to attach it to the post!)
EDIT: Just realised I pressed 'lodge message' when i took the shot, which is why it's highlighted - it looks fine normally!

Ok, it seems fine to me, but it will take a little getting used to, but I will soon figure things out Violet.

Oh Violet, you may remember that I reported an issue in technical a while ago about a glitch with Autopager Chrome and the NS forums.

Not sure if I should start a new thread for this next bit: I have been in contact with the developers and the issue is now resolved, if you could let users of AP for Chrome know to download the latest version of Autopager chrome they will have it fixed. The issue was with the topic icons not being shown on pages that autopager loaded, this is resolved in the latest version, just to let people know.

There's no "remember me" option anymore. Not that the old remember me worked all that well, but I'm getting logged out constantly here.
