Agree. Cinistra has had 100% tax for years, and nothing I do seems to alter this. Give it a try.
"Send forth all legions! Do not stop the attack until the city is taken! Slay them all!"
>Can I invade other people's regions?

Yes. The practice of "region crashing," where a group of nations all move to a region with the aim of seizing the WA Delegate position, is part of the game. Certain groups within NationStates are particularly adroit at this, and can attack very quickly.
>Once I've taken over a region, can I eject everyone else?

You can try. Invader Delegates tend to have very little Regional Influence, which makes ejecting long-time residents difficult. But Delegates can be as kind, generous, evil, or despotic as they wish. It's up to regional residents to elect good Delegates.

I fully approve. At last, I won't have to cut half of my budget to go from 100% to... 100% :)

I absolutely approve this new income tax calculator... Even if I periodically approve tax cutting law, the percent of money taken from my people raises every day... So I like this new tool.

Well, I think there's still a flaw. I remain on 0%, despite having a state (or at least, some spending).

I would imagine, that instead of making it harder to increase taxes near 100% or decrease them near 0%, one could simply make it so that all effects of issues that include raising the tax rate once the nation has 100% or decreasing it when the nation has 0% become inapplicable. Then, at least, you could always work your way back to a real number.

If I offer criticism on your proposed issue, I will often write in red: don't think I'm being aggressive, it's just a convention I use!
If I ask a question on a proposed issue thread, then it's because I feel it's one you need to ask of your issue: I'm being Socratic and/or lazy.

It gave me 70% instead of the normal 100%. Which is nice, since I've been trying to get it lower, but that practically means cutting spending everywhere, with the only visible result being categorized as "Capitalist Paradise". This new system would actually allow players to attempt to manage their nations with a more or less mixed economy.

I remember proposing something like this waay back, though it involved the option of setting the percent it's compared to. But if that is too hard to implement, this is just great. I approve.

Mine would go up from 14% to 20% which sounds much more likely as frankly I put the environment before people and business or the individual need to be taxed to do this.
One persons freedom is always at the expense of another. There are these dam laws in this country of mine preventing me from saying "hi" to my neighbour with a baseball bat. All I want to do is have my freedom of expression so he looses his freedom of movement.

First off: ouch! My tax rate jumped from 4% to 13% Damn those special interests >:(

Then again I do think it will be better especially if it makes a lot of people actually start paying attention to tax and spend policies.

Old rate 2% new rate 12%- I don't like it. Obviously I made choices to have the taxes that low- if I could set tax rates, they would be much closer to 2 than 12

How? Just how? How can you NOT know how to decrease your ITR? It's the easiest thing in the world! Send me a TG and I'll teach you how to lower your ITR, but don't take this out on all of us.

Please don't change the way taxes are calculated just because (some) people don't know how to solve issues. Please.

Well, it still leaves me on 100%, which is fine by me. The national bank handles all money in Ariddia; all private incomes are paid directly into it. Since that won't be messed up in the new system, it's fine with me.

Although my tax rate changes from 8% to 16%, I do support the new method.

(Moreover, I have been playing only for a week and I don't think I took decisions so tax-lowerer. In Europe, 16% flat is a ridiculously low taxation!)

Trust me; increasing your tax is very easy. You've only been here for a week, but within a month, making the right decisions, you could probably hit 100%. Doing it that quickly would probably hurt your GDP though. Doing it without hurting your GDP and specific areas of government spending will take much longer and you'd have to get to know the issues and their effects.

Is there any way we could keep our current tax rates if we like them? Or a way to set your own tax rate on the settings page?

I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with the old tax calculator I've never had any qualms about it.

I did not like it because my income tax would go up 6%, for no reason. I think when you answer issues the tax rate should not go up so much if you are doing something eg. You say yes to holding the olympics, the income tax rate goes up 4%. That does not make sense.

If it says "government spending", chances are it really means "more tax".

I wouldn't mind it being 95%, but would that mean it cuts government spending or just lowers the seen value?
