So, what this is saying that you can only get 100% tax if you take all of your workers' money and 0% tax if you take none at all.

Why wasn't it like this to begin with?

i would support this move for exactly the reasons suggested - once the tax rate in my nation hit 100% i stopped worrying about adding mew government programs. the new system, while not necessarily perfectly realistic, will allow people to see the economic effects of their decisions even if their nations are meant to be socialist/communist/fascist/what have you.

Sounds good. My tax rate always seemed artificially high - 80's to 90's (and I DO make plenty of cuts, BTW.) With this it is 66% - much better. kudos to whoever's idea this was.

Malbun Raises Special Tax

Postby Malbun » Fri Dec 24, 2010 10:31 am

The Preseident and Captain General has announced a special surtax to expand the defence force salary structure. The tax will be 1/2 of the normal income tax added to the 1/4 percent added value tax of all purchased goods and services in the Republic. In other words, the actual tax will be increased by .75% each year. This tax is to last for the duration of the "Emergency" or 2020.

Well it was. Now it's just harder to reach those percentages.

I object to this heinous atrocity. My tax rate would triple (6%->18%). The nanny states should just stop try=ing to be Mary Poppins.

Seconded.
I don't see how people are getting these out-bloody-rageous tax increases. I currently have a tax rate of 0, and it will go up to two. Should be easy enough to get it down, especially considering I just got an issue which will lower taxes. I'm for this change.

The measures don't go as far as I would set them (seeing as half of my nations remain at either 100% or 0%), but this is still definitely a step forward. I am very much in favor of this motion. :3

I'm worried that that this might mess with my puppet experiments, so I'm not really on board.

And for the record, I'll stay at 0%. Boosh!

This sounds good, don't know if it would be possible to implement it though.

The democratically elected parliament requires a unanimous vote to actually pass legalisation and with proportional representation and the number of extremists in parliament this is near impossible.

So the monarchy effectively rules by decree. I have achieved this through answering issues in a certain way... Unfortunately I can’t remember what those issues were. That plus a little bit of RP. Anyway my point is it’s easy to have moderate to high political freedoms and still have absolute power, you just have to be creative.

Huh. That's a rather unique and, I must say, deliciously evil approach. *golfclap*

Kind of a bad idea. Everyone would just pick the system that gave them the lowest taxes, and it take out the game aspect of comparing tax rates between nations.
