Leader name is invalid

When I try to enter my leader's name on the settings page, I get an error message saying it is invalid.

The leader's name is "Peyton Manning #18." The "#18" is an integral part of his name, just as "Cardinal" is not merely a title but actually part of the name of someone elevated to the rank in the Roman Catholic Church. I realize the octothorpe is a comment delimiter, but couldn't a step be added when sanitizing input to just escape it?

No, the digits are also invalid. I just grafted it onto the code for animals and currency. I'll look at it later and see what should actually be allowed.

I would love to be able to use ' for the leader's name.

Its being introduced via issues. So long as you have issues enabled, one will turn up eventually that gives you the option of having a named leader.

The sign #, is invalid, all things above the numbers are invalid, so you have to do No. or num, or number, or any variation, but you cant use #

The numbers themselves are also invalid, as explained above. Thanks anyways.

Had you read my original post in this thread, you would notice that I acknowledged that from the get-go.

On the subject of invalid characters, is there a reason why letters with diacritics are invalid?

I'm pretty sure that it boiled down to them being multibyte characters, although I could be mistaken.

Looking at the ASCII table, a space, A-Z, a-z and 0-9 are all clearly acceptable but no sign of an "é".

I wonder which character coding system NS is using? ASCII or Unicode?

I'd love to have a ~ or a helku (combining inverted breve 6below, just in case Hank͜hila Sede, would want to run for office again) as valid characters for a leader's name when I get the issue. *puppy dog eyes*
