URGENT: Something very weird with WA vote

Postby Sionis Prioratus » Tue Jul 07, 2009 10:43 pm

As of now:
Food Welfare Act
A resolution to reduce income inequality and increase basic welfare.

Category: Social Justice

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: *someone*

*text*

Votes For: 1759: The Jersey Empire [8], Infinis [5], Goethe [5], Findia [8], Kohhih Kappu [7].

Votes Against: 553: James_xenoland [3].

Voting Ends: Tue Jul 7 2009

Have more than 2000 votes been deleted? AND this vote should have ended 2:40 ago. And -ahem- the SC Resolution I submitted should have been at vote 2:40 ago.

WA problems aren't so "urgent" for game staff anymore.

Don't you realize there are WFE colors to Condemn and regions to Liberate?!

I believe I've fixed the voting time issue. I don't know what happened to the delegate votes. Keep an eye on it for me.

Yeah, the resolution At Vote is neither weighting delegate votes nor listing them on the page. Each WA nation appears to be getting 1 vote a piece. Not saying one-man-one-vote is a bad thing though... :)

I was wondering if I was seeing things... Last night, the vote stood at around 2,500 for-1,000 against. I checked this morning, and it was at the level in the OP.

We do not know if this is related or a new bug or is addressed elsewhere, but the stated date a Resolution is to close is off by many hours. For the last 3 votes, it occurs a day after the stated date it is "supposed" to close. For example, the current Resolution at vote states "Voting Ends: Thu Jul 23 2009 ". If the pattern continues, it will not actually happen until Fri Jul 24 2009. It may simply be a time zone thing.

A suggestion to eliminate confusion is to put a countdown on the current vote like already exists on Proposals. Proposals already say: "Voting Ends: in 2 days, 15 hours". Lets do that for the current vote too so there is no confusion as to when a vote closes.

Thank you.

It's my belief that the current string of WA resolutions are concluding their votes at the minor update on the day (in the U.S., at any rate) following the stated closing date of the vote, FWIW. (I'm usually not around at minor update, so I can't be sure.)

WA votes have ended in the minor update for some time and until recently the new vote started at the major update after 12 hours. I would IMO support a countdown-based move.

I already planned to move to countdown. The problem is I have no idea why they're not ending when they're supposed to in the first place. A countdown to "who knows when" isn't very useful.

I figured it out. I was adding the proposal voting time instead of the resolution voting time in order to display the time voting ends. It's corrected now, and I've switched the format to time remaining.

I think it's going to work now. Thanks!
