It's intentionally skewed low. Average recycling efficiency in the real world is below 10%, which makes sense if you think about it

Nations with very high stats in one area tend to have very high stats in other areas, congrats ^_^

92.2! A high gold for sure. It seems to correlate strongly with other environmental stats, which would be expected. I'm curious as to what differentiates it from environmental beauty and eco-friendliness.

I have two nations for this at 100. I would suggest having some sort of tiebreaker because stats that have a hard cap and nations tied at the top tend to be less fun. If we can have economic efficiency, tax rate, and employment rate over 100%, we should be able to have recycling efficiency over 100% too.

What does recycling efficiency even mean? Is it the percentage of stuff that gets thrown into the recycling bin which actually gets successfully reused, regardless of how small the absolute amount of stuff that gets thrown into the recycling bin in the first place is? Or is the percentage of total stuff that ever gets recycled?

Anyway, looks like another score where I have an excessively high value.

I get that this is higher than the real-world baseline, thus making them both still impressive. But comparing them makes something seem fishy. What exactly is being measured? It seems like it's just picking environmentally friendly options, which makes it hard to distinguish from the other environmental measures.

Speaking of, we already have environmental friendliness and beauty. There's indirect measures as well. I think this would just be another medal to pin on the chest of nations that invest in their environment. It'd be better, I think to have the opposite: a measure of how little nations recycle. Although iiiii wouldn't benefit from it, it'd be better to throw a bone to the opposition here I think.

I would have to assume it's what percentage of municipal solid waste (MSW) or similar is re-used, though I'm not very confident in this because it was 10% in the US in 1980 and is at 32.1% as of 2018. I assume it's indeed by mass and not by # of items.

Anyway, my score is 58.95.

Most establishments in Thingvollum have a set of bins for various waste; one for compost, one for paper, one for glass, one for tin and aluminum, one for recyclable plastic (bottles, tubs, etc.), and one for trash that cannot be recycled.

Either way, the Eco-Friendliness stat is fine. I don't believe we need a stat which focuses specifically on recycling. Especially since I can't figure out exactly what this measures

The beta for that would be waste production, though it's not currently active (?).
