It already exists.

By fiddling, not many. Indeed, of the handful of popular coding languages and markup texts that I could think of (java, python, perl, C, C++, C#, XML, HTML etc.) none of them worked, suggesting that it's only php that does this.
Well it is phpBB...

Trawled around looking for the answer to this. It seems that only PHP is supported because it uses some kind of native interface to interpret the code within the box and properly format it. There are extensions for the other code types but NS administrators are usually (and reasonably so) loathe to install them.
def helloWorld(noReps=3):
for i in range(noReps):
print 'Hello World!'
print 5 + 6
[pre][b][color=#FF8000]def[/color][/b] [color=#0000FF]helloWorld[/color](noReps[b]=[/b][color=#008000]3[/color]):
[tab=15][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]for[/color][/b] i [b][color=#FF8000]in[/color][/b] [color=#800080]range[/color](noReps):
[tab=30][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]print[/color][/b] [color=#00BF00]'Hello World!'[/color]
[tab=15][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]print[/color][/b] [color=#008000]5[/color] [b]+[/b] [color=#008000]6[/color][/pre]

That makes sense. I was pondering the other day how I'd get code formatting for a python module I've been fiddling around with, and realised you should be able to do it with the [pre] tag.def helloWorld(noReps=3):
for i in range(noReps):
print 'Hello World!'
print 5 + 6
comes from
- Code: Select all
[pre][b][color=#FF8000]def[/color][/b] [color=#0000FF]helloWorld[/color](noReps[b]=[/b][color=#008000]3[/color]):
[tab=15][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]for[/color][/b] i [b][color=#FF8000]in[/color][/b] [color=#800080]range[/color](noReps):
[tab=30][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]print[/color][/b] [color=#00BF00]'Hello World!'[/color]
[tab=15][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]print[/color][/b] [color=#008000]5[/color] [b]+[/b] [color=#008000]6[/color][/pre]
And then you could add line numbers, prompts, or copy some output off an interactive system. So if anyone is looking for any particular highlighting, just make it yourself using [pre].

I can almost guarantee you they won't. As an alternative why not use something like pastebin which does lots of syntax highlighting and just post a link?

Place the url of an image in between the [img] tags.
- Code: Select all
([url=http://www.imageurl.com/image.jpg]Image[/url])
There is a maximum size (900px, I believe), and if you exceed that you will get an error message.
