Is there a chance we can get a justify alignment on the forum like you've put on the in-game factbook beta.

I just figured out that by doing the tag [ code=php ] you can colorcode stuff.

Code: Select all

$variable
="string hello world";
$variable_two="hello";
if strpos($variable$variable_two) != 1
{
echo "something";
}
 else {
if strpos($variable$variable_two) = 7 {
echo "something else";
}}

What other flags can you put in the [ code ] tag?

By fiddling, not many. Indeed, of the handful of popular coding languages and markup texts that I could think of (java, python, perl, C, C++, C#, XML, HTML etc.) none of them worked, suggesting that it's only php that does this.

Well it is phpBB...

Trawled around looking for the answer to this. It seems that only PHP is supported because it uses some kind of native interface to interpret the code within the box and properly format it. There are extensions for the other code types but NS administrators are usually (and reasonably so) loathe to install them.

That makes sense. I was pondering the other day how I'd get code formatting for a python module I've been fiddling around with, and realised you should be able to do it with the [pre] tag.

def helloWorld(noReps=3):
for i in range(noReps):
print 'Hello World!'
print 5 + 6

comes from

Code: Select all
[pre][b][color=#FF8000]def[/color][/b] [color=#0000FF]helloWorld[/color](noReps[b]=[/b][color=#008000]3[/color]):
[tab=15][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]for[/color][/b] i [b][color=#FF8000]in[/color][/b] [color=#800080]range[/color](noReps):
[tab=30][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]print[/color][/b] [color=#00BF00]'Hello World!'[/color]
[tab=15][/tab][b][color=#FF8000]print[/color][/b] [color=#008000]5[/color] [b]+[/b] [color=#008000]6[/color][/pre]

And then you could add line numbers, prompts, or copy some output off an interactive system. So if anyone is looking for any particular highlighting, just make it yourself using [pre].

That's quite tedious, but I suppose it would have to do unless the required additions for non-PHP languages are added.

I can almost guarantee you they won't. As an alternative why not use something like pastebin which does lots of syntax highlighting and just post a link?

That's likely what I'd end up doing. Not that I do much code publishing on here anyway besides an occasional bit of pseudo-Java.

Short and no-flag only, due to the way the tags work. Sorry.

You could, however, mock it up using URL tags, though that would get extremely tedious.

Hey I had a question about the code in this post.
There is a massive space as you can see inside the spoiler and I was wondering why/how(if) I can make it not do that next time I use a big table and want to hide it.
In case you need here is the code of what I said:
Code: Select all
[quote="Alyekra";p="10564573"][quote="Sedgistan";p="10564564"]The image is several years old, so the prevalence may not be entirely accurate any more.[/quote]

How would one find the actual statistics?[/quote]
By using [url=http://nsdossier.texasregion.net/statistics.aspx]NSStatistics[/url], one of the amazing tools [region]Texas[/region] created for NS to use.

It does that when you use multiple lines in your table code. If you put it all in one line it shouldn't be a problem.

Not sure if you're planning to edit the table in the future, but - if so - you may want to save the spaced out table code in a Word/Notepad doc somewhere for future reference. It's a lot easier to edit/code when you have it all spaced out, obviously. (So, in the case of future edits .... )

You can't size columns or rows, but the table will automatically fit everything onto the page.

It's in the other thread that stickied in this very forum, right below this one.

Place the url of an image in between the [img] tags.
Code: Select all
([url=http://www.imageurl.com/image.jpg]Image[/url])

There is a maximum size (900px, I believe), and if you exceed that you will get an error message.

That's weird; the image tags were converted to a URL in the quote.

It should be:

Code: Select all
[img]http://www.imageurl.com/image.jpg[/img]

Mallorea and Riva should resign
