Out of curiosity, why is the ability of hiding one's online status restricted to Moderators, Issues Editors, and Admins?
Certainly not an important feature, sure, but I was just wondering, why not everyone if they choose to?

I don’t know the original reasoning, but the main reason a lot of us on staff choose to hide our online presence is both that it helps cut down on people telegramming us random questions, and also lets us pretend to be ninjas while we DEAT troublemakers.

No idea why it’s restricted to only staff though.

...and Sherp comes in with the answer, like always. Nice find.

Not trying to sound adversarial, but what does that mean? Not a supported feature? It's a native phpBB feature that's been there since at least the phpBB2 days.
Even on older versions of phpBB3, it's allowed for all users by default, unless permissions are changed. It isn't any more unsupported than something like the foe list.

I have quite literally no idea what it means. Maybe [v] recalls what she meant in 2012, but... I certainly don't know. It might have to do with the way we link forumside and gameside, but that's talking out of my ass there.

That's what I thought as well, but considering the fact that it was given to IEs at the flip of a switch presumably in the ACP (based on the linked quote's thread), it still doesn't really seem "unsupported."
Strikes me as consistent with how the feature typically works on an out of the box phpBB install.

It is a simple toggle that could be turned on, though as Violet noted it won't be - we have no intention of allowing other groups to make use of the feature. "Not a supported feature" likely means that Violet herself would prefer not to have it used.
