I know that NationStates technical may have little choice depending on the current health of the server, but I would imagine the holidays would mean increased activity due to younger players taking time off education.

Hello everyone,

Due to some much-needed hardware changes (replacing an end-of-life drive), the game will be down for a few hours starting at 0600 Eastern Time (New York City time), most likely on Thursday December 15th but possibly a later date some time between December 20th and 24th. It will likely be down for a few hours, but hopefully not longer. The forums will remain up, but as per usual, you will not be able to log in, anyone logged in already will remain so until the expiration of their session.

Alternatively it could be that the server hamsters have been nibbling on something other than their kibble. Both are equally plausible.

I guess we'll never know.

Hopefully the new hardware has HAMSTER PROTECTION# to make sure that the hamsters don’t eat it.

Alternatively we could teach the hamsters how to photosynthesise although there probably isn’t much light where the hamsters are so maybe teach them how to eat air? Or maybe just train the hamsters what server equipment is and what their food is so they only eat their food.
