Internet Explorer has retired

This doesn't affect anyone, I just wanted to mark the occasion, because in the early years of this site's life, it was just the worst. Everyone used it, it implemented every standard in a different way, and it didn't support anything new or useful. Bye bye IE, I always hated you.

I never liked Internet Explorer either. It's only through monopoly and it being free (at a time when most web browsers weren't) that allowed it to beat Netscape.

Finally they pull the plug on that pile of rubbish, there's just many better browsers out there, always preferred Firefox and even Chrome.

Also this is probably to encourage the use of Edge, which also sucks. Only used that to search up "Firefox download" lol.

For some reason, I actually thought "this has to be [violet]" before I clicked on it. NSG wouldn't care that much for a dead browser, even if they personally hated it. NSG mostly cares about RL politics and international events.

Edge is literally the best modern browser tho.

Like it's literally just Google Chrome but with less memory usage, hell the only reason why I don't switch to it full-time is because of how integrated I am into Google's ecosystem.

I have my doubts about Edge, but performance on low end hardware is impressive.

I see this as a cause for celebration! Goodbye IE! Sure, we had good times early on, but that's long before you became obsolete- oh wait...

...IE was always terrible.

I use Edge whenever I am on a public computer.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I have much to say about Internet Explorer. Maybe it's because I spent much of my childhood using some form of Safari, Firefox, or Chrome, with the only time I used Internet Explorer being if I was on a school computer or someone else's computer. I don't think it was too bad, but I won't say that Internet Explorer was the best thing since sliced bread or Betty White (may she rest in peace), and given there are a fuckton more up-to-date browsers available, Internet Explorer is most certainly obsolete.

It was the browser installed on the library computers and workplace computers where I carried out much of my NS activity for years after joining the game, and I don't remember having any particular trouble with it.

As a full-time user, the "less memory use" bit really doesn't hold up in my view; it freezes a bit too often.

This wouldn't affect users like me for instance. I mainly use either Edge (this post was written from Edge) or Chrome to access this site. IE wasn't really good.
