I fail to see the difference between a bot calling the API legally, giving a list of nations separated by commas to put into the "To" section, and then a person pasting that in. Should that ALSO be illegal? At that point should we just ban all new nation API calls?

Also, since there clearly IS a rules difference between these things as it currently stands, I recommend anyone with such tools switch to the method I just described above

Both the title of the thread and the OP, if you'd bother to read them, clearly state this is a change to rules about bots interacting with the human-centric HTML site and not the telegrams API.

You're misunderstanding Lux' post.

The complaint is that there is minimal difference between an API call to newnations that returns a comma delimited list of nations not seen before and comma delimited list of nations not seen before wrapped in a URL, as far as what advantages are conveyed to a player and the "automation" of manual recruitment.

That is the core of the issue behind the rule change proposal.

This is exactly what I meant. Thank you for explaining. Especially because I don't check the forums often so I didn't catch the response until now when I decided to check the thread
