The Big Stats Suggestion Thread (Non-Industry)

Postby Australian rePublic » Tue Jul 27, 2021 7:21 pm

Okay, so there are many threads suggesting stats to add, so I thought why not create one big thread where everyone can add their ideas for stats that should be included, and we can all.discuss it in one centralised place. Okay, so here goes nothing

Due to Sedgistan's Suggestion This was split into threads. This is for the non-industries:

Gender Equality- A measure of equality of men and women. Using a different measure in patriarchal societies vs matriarchal societies- the logo for this statistic will be a male/feamle public toilet symbol

Space Faringness- How Space Faring a country is- The logo will be a rocket and the index will be called the Armstrong-Musk Index

Disability Friendliness- The logo will be the disabled symbol

Further further, can I please suggest further dividing the economy. The current matrices are black market, government, state owned enterprise and public enterprise. May I please suggest splitting private industry into publicly owned companies (i.e. shareholders), franchises, privately owned companies (i.e. no shareholders), unlimited liability (sole traders and partnerships) and non-profits? Or failing that, at least divide private industry into share-holder owned and privately owned industry

Employment Stats
There should be two employment pie charts- one which divides employment into formal, informal and gig employment, and another to dividing employment into full time, part time and casual employment?

Again, Nonsensicalliness. How little the nation makes sense.
Could technically also be used as Comprehensibility: How easy it is to comprehend the nations existance.
NS Stats do not count, unless it is funny.
The Transcripts canonically do not exist and merely serve to make the garbled Wormsspeak readable.

Championship Points: How much championship points you have in challenges compared to the rest of the world. Can also be labeled as "Challenge Strength".

I don't like this one bit. The units make sense, but otherwise it doesn't really do much. NS assumes the highest a nation can go is 20 Minutes into the Future, with all of the trappings you'd expect. Nations can have a space program, but the furthest it seems anyone can get is either having their own national space station or jointly sharing one with Russia East Lebatuck, and a network of satellites. It rather resembles the Cold War in tone -- there's plenty of issues that talk about the militarization of space, but little else. There's no issues that talk about space industry or space tourism (except as a one-off option to convince flat earthers), or the kind of experiments one can run on a space station and the hazards thereof. (And I lack the imagination and drive to write those issues to justify any such stat in the first place.)

In any event, it's not really an industry or something you can put a metric to; all primitive nations and those that forsake or haven't gotten a space program yet will be sitting at Zero, and of those that do, there's little to separate it from the Scientific Advancement stat, which already does the same thing through its catch-all application. It can mean whatever you want it to mean while "Space Faring" (and awkwardly worded at that) means one very specific part of SciAd. There's also no counterpart you can put to it. Most things that aren't industries have a counterpoint (SciAd, balanced by Primitiveness; Compassion, balanced by Rudeness; Religiousness, balanced by Secularism, and so on). This one won't have anything that makes it different from Primitiveness.

Sounds a lot like ideological radicality.

Ahh, other than Religiousness vs Secularism, the rest are not hard counterparts, as I will show here. ^^;

To some extent, it is possible to have a primitive nation that has quite a degree of scientific advancement, but this only works for non-extremes!

Re: splitting the economy some of those overlap, I would suggest dividing private industry into publicly traded, privately owned, and employee owned.

I'd also like to suggest two new stats, both for regions, since they don't get enough love.
First; Voting power.
Simply how many votes the region's WA delegate has. As of now there's no easily accessible way of finding this information. Best you can do is look up the endocount of each delegate(hoping none of them cted) and cross-reference that with the transitions in the history page, if you want a timeline. If you want a ordered list of regions by voting power you have to go by the endo count and sift out all the nondelegates. which becomes a hassle when you get beyond the GCR delegates

Second, and dependent on the Democracy / Autocracy features; Stability. How infrequently there are changes to who holds executive powers. I'd measure this by the average number of days (over some rolling period like 4 years) the nation goes between a change.

Urbanism, or how urbanized your nation is. Not sure what the exact stats or measurements would be, but it just occurred to me that there isn't really an indicator to note how the divide is between urban vs rural areas for a given nation.

Folks, I'm going to shut this down. Stats and policies go hand in hand with the creation of new issues. If you have an idea for a new statistic or policy, go pay a visit to the Got Issues forum and start a thread on the issue you're writing that incorporates your new idea.

It doesn't need to be perfect right off the bat, but it needs something to grab the attention of the Issue Editors. They're the ones who add new stats and policies to the game, and they don't go looking for new stat ideas - they look for new issue content first. Statistics come later.

Good luck, and good writing.
