New WFE codes

Postby Golden Triangle Tout » Sun May 10, 2009 7:11 am

The new [url] code available in the regional WFE results in the display of an extrnal link image
Code: Select all
http://www.nationstates.net/images/externallink.gif
The image doesn't display and apparently doesn't exist

See Here for example

Code: Select all
[url=http://s3.invisionfree.invalid/regio_belgium]Forum[/url]

That's because you know what "some" NationStaters are capable of when they're angry ;)

I'm personally surprised some of the guys at OMAC survived the season...

If that could only be true.. Current WFB is getting rather cramped, so everytime I want to add or change the slightest thing, I need to delete stuff and start calulating ("minus 5 characters here, minus 3 characters there, and if I delete another 2 there,.. darn I need 4 more spaces characters... ").

Agreed. I had to take out all of the cool formatting to fit my WFE in within existing limits. OK, I was able to make the forum link green.

It's a simple variable - possibly in a single line of code - and given the large number of regions who rarely if ever use their Factbook, the overall server load of giving us a few dozen extra characters might not add up to a hill of beans.

It counts BBcode, punctuation, forum link URL, everything. Very restrictive for larger regions that want some elbow room to post something a little extra now and then. It's not like we're asking for regional flags or anything. YET.

Pretty please?

Well, since you asked so nicely. NSCode tags no longer count towards maximum length in region descriptions.

Then don't get weirded out if I start talking to anyone like yourself in authority, with the utmost "niceness". Okay?

Thanks a kagizillon, now my WFE shall be brain-spinning with its fancy clicky things AND literaturical.

Thanks Again,

Huzzah! I was concerned when trying to squeeze in the tags to our regional forum, now there is no need! :)

Since people can apparently use them in TGs and on the RMB's too...(I'm sure I missed a topic on that somewhere...blame lack of coffee) is it possible to have a preview feature?

I work around the "preview" by sending TG's back and forth between my puppets.

Would having a preview button not make it easier?

No argument that preview would be handy; it's just non-trivial.

I'm hearing a lot of unhappiness (and no support) for shortening nation names on RMBs to exclude the preamble, which is the way nations who have hung about the game long enough to earn are quite proud of.

Start a poll! We are always interested in feedback. The feedback I got was that pretitles made it difficult to quickly parse author names, and squished post text.

I'll agree with the argument to put the pretitles back. Honestly, if you're writing enough text that it "squishes" it, you should get your own regional forum.
