What the. Please I need to use puppets and your limitations just ruin it. What if I have to mean the forums.... their are situations and maybe we can complain to RL authorities?

Burning the haystack is a bad way to find the needle.

Also, this could make it hard for forum-based communities (like the RP forums) to grow.

I think new player limitations are a good idea, but the OP’s suggestion is very extreme. I’d suggest a considerably shorter timeframe (say a week) and lesser restrictions (like required post approval, but that could take a lot of modly effort, or an increased floodlimit, or a prohibition on image posting). That should make it possible to catch those sorts of trolls before they melt the forum.

RL authorities do not care unless its child porn or something like that. What is being posted is disgusting but most likely legal under the law.

Yes, all your are good ideas except the time frame. Just ban images posting, andpost rppoval is extreme because moderators are all volunteers and look how much new nations are created.

That literally wouldn't work because there are already tons of users with numerous accounts. I've got 25 myself, should the mods delete all but two of mine? Hell no.

Also 'IP addresses' are ultimately meaningless, hence why the mods say that IP bans are crazy easy to get around. I'm pretty sure I get a new IP whenever I restart my router, for example.

It wouldn’t work to completely stop them, but it would at least slow them down at a much faster rate.

My suggestion is to require images to be spoiled.

The police aren't going to break down the door of someone just because they post gross things on a forum. The law mainly serves to make sure the moderators clean it up.

For image posting, there are certainly times when I feel there are legitimate reasons to use images, especially for RP purposes (e.g. newsposts, either as headers or as articles, communiques for the coats of arms and signatures, places to help set the setting), so I don't feel like a blanket prohibition on image posting is the way to go. Likewise, Free Ravensburg's suggestion of spoiling all images would make these images less than useful.

That said, upon further reflection, six months is a bit too extreme, but I do think a week is not really long enough to weed out the trolls/spammers. A month feels like the best compromise.

Bruh if actual pornographic websites can get away with not restricting users under 18 from the viewing their content (unless you count those 'PLEASE CLOSE THIS SITE IF YOU'RE UNDER 18 KTHX' messages as 'restricting'), US law enforcement isn't gonna give a shit about it here.

(Also aren't NS servers hosted in Canada anyways?)

Why not limit new posters who do their first... say 10 posts, to moderator approval?

A month is way better than six. If newer, more legitimate members had to wait for six months just to use a forum or two, they would just stop playing and CTE at a much faster rate.

That's true. Would it be possible to limit new players to post images until a certain threshold, whether it be days old or post amount, has been reached?

It would add far more to the moderators' plates, and it would certainly not be an efficient way to deal with the problem that the forums are facing.

One month is honestly the perfect balance between keeping spammers out of the forums, and letting users with a legitimate reason to go forumside in. I didn't even discover the current forums when I first joined in 2009 until I was about a month or so in.

Honestly, this is too much. Allow them to post, but add a 10 minute cool down so mods can clean and delete nation before they can make their second post.
