Slowmode?

I'm trying to make a post and it's saying that "You cannot make another post so soon after your last."

They were about two minutes apart

You can no doubt thank the DOS spammer for that. They're trying to restrict posting to prevent bigger messes in the future.

Oh, ok.

Yeah, to be a bit more specific, they upped the throttle that limits how often you can post to once every 15 seconds to once every minute.

Would it be viable if slowmode only affects nations that were made immediately, or maybe at most a week old? I mean, it's obvious that the spammers are mostly "made a few seconds ago" accounts and they're the ones that need a restriction, not the rest of us.

Then again, 2 minutes is not that bad of a wait yet, so I'm just providing some feedback regarding this matter.

Cheers!

This is an old version of phpBB so I do not think so, and upgrading is not viable

Yes it has been like that for the past few weeks, as on a few occasions I've noticed it kicking in.

To my knowledge the forum is not updated to a version that can do it yet. Then again I thought it wasn't updooted to a version where there was a slowmode function after all

The issue is that the slow mode only has a very limited effect, as the spammer in question was making new accounts every few seconds to get around it.

I think posting throttles have been in phpBB for a long time. The restrictions suggested though probably would require a newer version of phpBB as well as some extensions, which [violet] said was not possible without breaking things.

I wish it was possible for them to upgrade, as the Moderation Queue feature would work nicely for these types of situations.

Ahhhhhh, I was afraid of that. I know Mods tried, but the old boards and technical reasons are understandably unavoidable.

Ah well, I tried. Thanks, and please shield your eyes. ♥️

That is actually a fair and valid point. It only stopped them from making too many posts per account, but they still have a lot of accounts. So... Ahh.

Just turned it down to 30 seconds, that seems like a reasonable compromise between the old 15 seconds and stricter 60.

Is this change permanent?
