Suggestion: Have a notice that tells that you are outbid.

Postby Istantine » Thu Mar 18, 2021 5:32 pm

Heres the thing: Ive seen too much people just never checking their bids enough.

I own Swedish-Norwegian Kingdoms and I have seen way too many "steals" of cards that are worth WAY MORE than their ask.

For example the United Missourtama States (correct me if I'm wrong). I bought that thing with an ask of 1.00 bank while it was worth 15.00 bank. Mostly nobody checks their bids.

So here's the suggestion: A notice/notification that reads "NATION has outbid you on NATION card" or something better. It's pretty simple too.

Wouldn't the solution be not to submit offers way lower than the actual value of the card?

It could be like a floor to how low it is compared to the value, but the market would be less active

Me?!

I'm confused as to exactly what this situation means, it appears nobody wanted my card for that price, if so then people will sell below market value and the MV will drop.

But regardless of that: At first this suggestion seems like a good idea, but for every card there is one player who is willing to pay way above MV, so it would be very annoying to get a notification literally every time I am overbid on any card, especially if it is at like double the bank a player has.

It's probably not a good idea to bump nine minutes after you posted.

The cards market is a free market, so if everyone feels like the price of a card is too low/too high, they are free to inflate/deflate it. I don't think any limitations to that should be applied.

Regarding the suggestion itself, I'd be opposed because paying attention is important in the market (even people like myself sometimes forget about an auction and miss on a good deal, but that's because we didn't pay attention). Since auctions have a limited time, it's up to you to at least check in the last minutes to see if anyone outbid you. Plus this would be another notice for several players to disable if it were implemented, since most large farmers have a lot of bids and their notices would be filled with outbid alerts.

If people are getting a notification every single time they are outbid it would be annoying. But it could be nice if there was a check box to "watch" a specific cards you have bid on. Then at least auctions you don't care about wouldn't generate notifications.

Eh. I can see the appeal in getting notified when you're outbid, but I'm not sure it'd help to automate any more of the cards game. Card-trading is very much about being smart in watching your bids; that's just part of the game!
At least if someone designs a custom script to do it, they're putting in the effort to be more successful. Making such a feature official would just take skill out of the cards game, though, and would make auctions much more annoying (imagine everyone being told the second you overbid them for a card you need!).
