Proposed Name Re-Usage Rules

Postby Connotar » Tue Feb 23, 2021 10:28 am

So I was thinking, there's gotta be a hundred nations that had to go with their second or third choice because there was a nation that hasn't been online for a few years and you have to wait a few more to have the name. If a nation hasn't played for a year or even a few months, it's unlikely they'll come back in the next 4 years. So I think the bar should be lowered to a year. What do you guys think? :?:

Definitely not. There have been many people who came back from NS after something like 5 or even 10 years after their nation ceased to exist. One year is a small amount of time when this game has been around for almost two decades. Furthermore, if another nation name release happened after an hypothetical criteria change, most interesting/notable names such as real life places would be snatched within a week, mostly by people who will simply keep them as a trophy.

Also, there is a thread for this already: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=139161

Are people who will come back after 5 years really a large enough group to make policies around?
GVH has a puppet. It supports #NSTransparency and hosts a weekly zoom call for nsers that you should totally check out

I think so. I rarely ever logged in while in college which took up nearly 5 years. I CTE'd maybe once or twice, but if I was in med school I'm sure the story would be different. In general, I have a hiatus here and a hiatus there due to work and life in general. I like the generous guidelines even if I would like to grab Yahoo right now lol.
