Change Zombie Day to Demon Day!

The news has arrived, I think there isn't going to be a Z-day, but it was hinted at there may possible be one, or maybe the requested opt-in option. (https://www.nationstates.net/page=news)

Some people seem to think there will be a zombie apocalypse around the end of October, with the undead rising from their graves to unleash a global wave of devastation, just because that's what's happened for the last eight years in row.

To these people, I say: Relax! This year, we are fully prepared to contain and control the situation. So I'm pleased to say that there will be no need to panic, close your borders, or anything else. Just keep going about your business.

There is a small chance that you may spot a few isolated zombies here and there. We can't completely rule that out. But if that happens, nobody should throw themselves into disarray over it. Instead, simply phone the international response hotline and we'll take care of it. Simple!

With concern over the Zombie event being a virus themed NS event, I thought of this idea.

The mechanics of the event would remain the same, but instead of Zombies, we have it be demons/ghosts instead of Zombies. Instead of populations becoming infected, they become possessed.

Military option would be killing possessed people instead of Zombies.

Cure Option would be priest researching exorcisms to remove the demonic spirit.

Join them option be Satanist summoning demons to possess people faster.

I think would be an elegant solution, all that would be needed is to change and update the text and would also give the event a fresh twist.

Another more elaborate idea I had is what I like to call "Monster Mash"

In this version each nation would start as by random or choice a chosen monster, Demon, Werewolf, Vampire, or Zombie. They then would infect other nations to become there chosen type. And instead of the event being about curing Zombies, it be about one of the monster factions having converted the largest population.

This idea would need a bit more coding and fleshing out, but also would be a pretty cool event twist.

I had a chuckle to myself earlier about changing ZDay to something, so heres my probably rubbish and definitely too late idea for ZDay transformation:

Rather than Spreading zombies, theres a Revolution occurring in your nation. You have 3 options, you can stop the revolution spreading by propaganda, you can aid the revolution, or you can make like America and send someone to coup them.

Well aware that this is too late for any changes, but I thought it was a neat little alternative that keeps the game the same, but has a none-pandemic twist, and keeps the game political.

I feel that this sort of factional fight will really spice up Z-Day, making it become not one of everybody fighting a common enemy, but a messy, spontaneous, sleepless and extra-fun 4-way battle. It will be awesome!
And I think that it is uniquely suited for 2020, since it removes the central focus on a big virus rampaging the world (which is also actually happening) and in 2020, 31 October will be a Saturday. Such a weekend Z-Day / M-Day (hopefully!) won't come again until 2026.

And I think that it is uniquely suited for 2020, since it removes the central focus on a big virus rampaging the world (which is also actually happening) and in 2020, 31 October will be a Saturday. Such a weekend Z-Day / M-Day (hopefully!) won't come again until 2026.

The only objection I would have to that is that it might become too much like N-day which I like and all but there shouldn't be two in the year. Z-day has the unique element of AFK nations being great zombie spreaders in a region so for lots of larger regions this makes the game far more challenging to play sometimes even impossible.

Keep in mind that the lead-up news post for the first zombie apocalypse also downplayed the danger for humour effect. The latest "nothing to worry about" news post feels like it has the same humorous tone as that one, and not the more serious "sorry, we don't want to offend anyone" tone that I would expect if they genuinely cancelled it.
