I'm not able to verify this problem in either Chrome or Firefox. Is anyone else seeing these notices, or is it just Naval Monte and La xinga?

Let's get some basic troubleshooting information from the two of you, and anyone else who can replicate this issue:
  • What browser(s) are you using?
  • What anti-virus product?
  • What's your operating system (IOS, Windows, Android, Linux, etc)?
  • Have you cleared your cache (temporary internet files) and restarted your browser and computer?
It does indeed sound like a security certificate issue, but I can't tell whether it's our certificate or some other site's.

I've been seeing them for quite a long time (months), but I've just not bothered with flagging it up as it never seemed particularly pressing.

This page is an example that consistently gives the "Not secure" message: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=483735

Chrome (latest build), Windows Security (latest build), Windows 10 (latest preview build, 20197), yes I do it regularly every day and yet the issue keeps occurring.

But I have also tested the above link on the latest build of Firefox and it gives Firefox's equivalent warning indicating the same problem.

Chrome, Avast, Windows, I have but I haven't restarted my computer yet. I have noticed that when the images that use http are gone the issue disappears.

In my experience, this problem can come up when images are loaded over insecure connections. And indeed, the image at the very top of that thread is loaded over HTTP- just check the URL. That's an insecure protocol, and so your browser (as well as mine) is detecting that the page isn't completely secure. That's not a big problem, but it does mean that theoretically, a malicious person could tamper with the image that is being loaded. To avoid this, images should be loaded over HTTPS.
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

Yes as I said earlier I'm assuming it is some of the page elements that are using non-HTTPS which the browser is detecting, rather than an actual problem with a certificate. Hence why I didn't flag it up, as I didn't consider it to be a big issue.

I'm getting it on Firefox, no anti-virus, Linux [manjaro], and happened to do a system update a few hours ago, so my browser/computer have been updated since the problem was reported.

I also tried it on firefox Ubuntu Linux computer that's been sitting without updating for several days, and both the news page, as well as the linked forums page have that.

I opened the console on the news page:
Loading mixed (insecure) display content “http://blosxom.sourceforge.net/images/pb_blosxom.gif” on a secure page

Hopefully that helps.
(And for the forum page linked in an above post, it has the following)
Loading mixed (insecure) display content “http://i.imgur.com/BAmqBc8.png” on a secure page

It seems to be that the http link in the <img> tag has http rather than https.
For example, I modified one of my factbooks to use an image with http rather than https:
Original (has the lock): https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1271587
Modified one (uses http instead, doesn't have the lock): https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1271586

I forgot to mention but even my tablet and phone picked up the issue. The phone is an LG while the tablet is a Samsung. Both are the latest models.

I would examine your software then I have a 2 year old HP Omen and i have the same problem but i hit refresh and blame it's gone so something messed up with the software identifying secure and un-secure websites.

I have tried this page and it gives me the error below, which I've spoiler'd. My interpretation of it is that some images in the thread may be hosted on 3rd party non-HTTPS sites, so I'm not thinking it's anything to do with NationStates.

Going to "More Information" gets me this.

For troubleshooting formality, I'm using Firefox 79.0 with Windows Defender, on Windows 10 (build 2004). And no, I haven't cleared my cache for the simple reason I don't want to lose browsing data.

Hope this helps!
