Same kind of thread where people suggested an option to block System Telegram or integrate them into Notices. Good luck at getting more user to support this idea which would likely doom to fail again and again.

I think at this point there is sufficient requests from a variety of players that this should be properly considered. Just a small selection of the requests:

Move them to notices or at least allow us the ability to turn them off. I actually left the WA on my other nation largely because I was sick of getting all these compliance commission telegrams that just clogged up my inbox and caused a lot of actually worthwhile telegrams to be deleted.

On that note, why is the limit only 20 telegrams anyway? Every other site I've posted on allows you to store at least a few hundred private messages, if not unlimited. A 20-TG limit just seems very 2002 to me.

Except, the limit was originally only 10, and the archive folder (added at the same time as the increase to 20) makes the effective limit 40. It is true that this seems pretty small, but NS has a huge number of nations compared to many other non-corporate-funded sites/bboards of this kind, and it stores the TGs of CTE nations as well.

I wholeheartedly agree with this thread, though - notifying people of WA resolutions by telegrams is an ancient holdover from before notices existed. Our precious 20 inbox telegrams should be saved for user telegrams and Voice of Mod telegrams, with WA telegrams and all other non-personal system telegrams (WA Delegate Overwatch for getting/losing delegacy, National Department of Logistics for custom fields, anything else if it exists) being moved to notices or elsewhere.
Edit: Notices also have a much better existing system for opting in/out than blocking telegrams - I definitely hope to be able to block SC resolution notices while keeping GA ones.

Hm... Why not incorporate a sort of happy medium and make it “opt-in” for these telegrams?

Those who’d like to continue receiving compliance commission telegrams may choose to do so just as they do now and, for the vast majority of people who find that it makes little difference one way or another, telegrams from the compliance commission can cease.

(^^ The reason I don’t say “opt-out” is because I’m generally fine with them being gone. Those who are not can “opt-in” rather than thousands of nations having to “opt-out”.)

Ads evidently don't bring the site enough money to host itself, which is why the Store is a thing. Anyway, that's utterly irrelevant here.

I agree with the OP in that nations should have the option to opt in/out. I do think this should be by default enabled, however.

I agree with this position. While the telegrams may get annoying for players who have been around for a long time, I imagine that new nations who have never played before might enjoy the RP. Or at the very least have something they can mentally connect for why their stats changed after a GA resolution.

While I can see why some people might want the WACC TGs, there definitely should be a way to opt out of them. After all, they're just needless irritation for those who are in the WA for reasons other than the resolutions.

When I went inactive a few years ago (before I had PMG) I came back to find that the WACC telegrams had pushed out a lot of telegrams, some of which I had tried to save (my archive was full) by constantly deleting telegrams that came in. It makes much more sense for me to make them notices, especially since one doesn't get telegrams for stats badges, or anything of the sort. Or at least opt out. You can basically block almost every telegram except for the WA telegrams.

I instantly delete any that come my way. There is no reason for it at all.

If you are ever involved in regional politics, or maybe even RP (if an RPer could confirm that, then that would be helpful), you constantly have to be deleting every TG that you can consider unimportant, and archiving any discussions that might be useful. I currently have nothing in my inbox from less than about 40 days ago.

Compliance TGs just push meaningful conversation out of your TG inbox. The only way to get around this is to buy either Postmaster or Postmaster-General, and although I do spend quite a bit of time on NS, I'd rather spend my money on things IRL then a virtual status that will only last for as long as the game lasts.

Speak of the Devil! Yeah, I agree with moving them into Notice.

Yeah, it seems like they know that I posted here, and they're getting extra aggressive.

What? Two notices?

Is that a frequent thing?

About 2/3rds of mine have that across my various nations, has been reported elsewhere though.

Firstly there’s no real winning in NationStates, but of the many subjective wins I can’t think of any that require telegrams to win.

You’ve actually changed my mind to being for compliance telegrams, as I love this site and want it to be supported, if that small thing actually makes people finance this site to get rid of like 3 telegrams a week (and keep 3 others), I think that’s fine.
