I’m trying to use Imgur for my nationstates images but sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. How do I make so it works consistently?

It would be helpful if you could give examples of where it works and where it doesn't.

make sure to use the image link, not the link to the image

Did you put the tags round the link?

That's the problem. The [img] tag needs the link to end with an image file extension, like .jpg, or .gif, or .png. It won't work if the IRL doesn't end like that.

As Mathuvan Union said, make sure it's a direct image link rather than a link to the Imgur post.

You can usually get the direct image link by right-clicking on the image and selecting "Copy Image Location." Alternatively, on Imgur, hover on the image, click the three dots and "Get Share Links." The BBCode should work.

I've had the same issues with Imgur. I think you should just accept that.

I've never had issues with imgur. Maybe we can help with your issues as well?

Please ensure your URL (link) ends in .jpg, .png or similar. If it doesn't, you have to click on the actual image in imgur (not the sidebar) and click copy link.

If it still doesn't work, post the image link here and someone might help you out.

The easiest way I can explain it for anyone who doesn't understand is this way.

If you copy-paste the link from an Imgur post or your browser's URL bar, it will not work. An example of this is below.
Image

However, if you right-click on the image itself (on the Imgur post page) and select "Copy Image Location", and then paste that into your dispatch, it will work reliably every time.

Also, make sure you have image tags ([img])......([/img]) on the beginning and end of your image links.

To prove that Imgur works just fine when you employ the correct codes:

When you're on Imgur and have uploaded a file, click on the three dots next to "Copy Link". It will unfold a menu. Then, click on "Get share links". One you have done that, you will get another menu with all kinds of codes. The codes you'll want to use to get the effect like in the spoiler is "BBCode (Forums)". If you copy the link there, you'll get Imgur images to work on NationStates.

I pressed on the copy permalink button on the imgur page
It says it was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct.

That's not even an image page, it's an album page.

I think the image you're looking for is http://i.imgur.com/VbnLNoV.png.

You have to be logged in to get the BBCODE, then you have to choose large thumbnail to make sure the image is not too big.

You don't have to be logged in necessarily. You can still use Copy Image Location.

Copy image is not the same code as Copy BBCODE. It will give you an image, but not the code surrounding it that makes it easy to post on a bulletin board.

That's not hard to add.

I've had this problem on other forums, not just this one. I just recently started to use IMGUR to store my images (photobucket is going down the drain, sadly), and the number one issue I had in the beginning was figuring out how to get the image to show up. I quickly realized that the original link it provides is not an image link, you have to scroll to the side of the image after you click "edit image" and click on the BBCODE format. Then it'll show up. All my IMGUR images for my ships and stuff show up just fine in my factbook gameside, and usually on the forums as well.

Hope this helps :)
