[nation=long] BBCode not notifying nations

Postby Morover » Thu May 14, 2020 2:08 pm

This RMB post was recently made, in which I was mentioned via the [nation=long] BBCode - however, I was not actually notified in my "notices" tab, even though I have RMB mentions turned on in my subscriptions menu.

Is there any reason for this and is it able to be fixed?

Thanks!

I think this is to do with the post having been edited.
I'd guess that in the original post, you wouldn't have been mentioned, and so were not notified.
Later, the post was edited, and your name added.
For some reason, you don't get notified if you're only added as an edit.
(I only discovered this happens this week)

I can't say for sure why that's the behaviour.
Maybe it's to avoid people being pinged multiple times if a post gets multiple edits?

I'm under the impression that dispatches do seem to send notifications on edits, so that would be inconsistent behavior.

Yes, in my experience dispatches do send notices on edits and RMB posts don't. RMB editing was added as a feature much later than dispatches, so that might explain why it's inconsistent.
