Why do you have to use your email adress?

Why do you have to use your email to join the assembly? Is there a way to go around it?

From the FAQ:

And if you join the World Assembly, you have to verify your e-mail address in order to enforce a one-WA-nation-per-player rule.

There is no way around it, just put in your email.

Some people set up a gaming-only email and use that here. We don't care. We don't use the email address for anything except WA acceptance and password recovery, so do whatever works for you.

Also worth noting that I have been on this site since 2006 and can vouch that NS does not really cause any extra emails. You get the one when you apply, if you forget your email you can ask for a password reset. And, if you don't opt out you get one email before your account is deleted for inactivity. If you don't want to get that one, you can uncheck that box on the same page you put in email (worded as impending apocalypse). Other than that, NS doesn't send out emails with updates or news, even if there's some sort of event in the game. I used a dummy email for a while but started giving them my personal email for ease.

I know it's still annoying, but just thought it should be said!
