Just FYI, Drew Durnil didn't break the site the first time. The site was already broken (a key service had stopped unexpectedly) and the influx of new players made it appear much worse than it really was.

This second video is bringing in somewhat similar numbers, but the site (and the mods) are having no trouble handling the influx.

The fact that we have multiple nations who have been playing for over a decade should tell you that the answer is "yes". We all clicked a link from somewhere to find this game. Chances are that most of the people who clicked the same link are gone, but you're still here. You're the fad survivor. So am I.

I mean, as a (slightly) pre-drew nation, I myself think that this could be a great opportunity for this site to grow, and for the world to really take off.Unfortunately, I have no real statistics(Does anyone have some? If so, could they please post a link?), but I'm pretty sure that the number of nations in the WA as a proportion of all nations has increased significantly, and I suspect that we may have slightly higher player involvement from the new recruits.

Until the 28-day CTE wave we won't get an idea of exactly how many of the new players are sticking around. I think to get a definite idea of how many new players were retained we'll have to wait at least two months.

I actually just wrote something recently about that, so I'll just quote it over here:

Like many things in politics, it's at least partly a matter of marketing. A successful GA resolution requires two equally important coIf you're serious about getting into the WA side of things, be aware that it has a very steep learning curve. It's highly recommended you start with the GA Rules Compendium (and related Q&A thread), and that aspiring new proposal authors first cut their teeth participating in drafting discussions of other players' proposals to get a better feel for what's expected of a quality proposal before they even begin attempting to write their own. Once you're ready to start drafting, it's absolutely recommended that you post a draft to the GA forum for more experienced players to review and provide feedback on; the process will help you fix any legality and formatting issues and just overall better fine-tune your proposal before you submit it. Some players can spend months just on drafting, but most will at least give it a couple of weeks before submitting. Jumping straight into submission without a forumside drafting period is almost guaranteed to result in a failed proposal even when done by experienced resolution authors.

Basically, proposal writing is not easy, so don't go into your first attempt expecting a smash hit; it's a learning process and highly recommended you learn the ropes discussing other players' proposals before diving in to trying to write your own.
