[Suggestion] More player options

Postby Armus Republic » Wed Aug 28, 2019 2:57 pm

Allow players to name their government type (ie a republic, Monarchy, etc) as well as their legislature type (ie Parliament, Senate, Congress) along with an Houses (Lower House, Upper House, etc) that may be present. I think it would be a nice addition to NS as it allows the player to customize their nation that much more

The Republic is a highly militaristic, imperialistic nation that prides itself on individual Liberties.
NS Rank does not represent my nation
The population of the Republic and Her Empire: 1.5 billion
Republican Armed Forces: 60 million
This does not mean that all 60 million soldiers will be in the war. I've an Empire, which means I have other commitments to attend to.
The RAF number does not include the Militia

You can already do that, just write a Factbook about it where you specify those things. It's what the Factbooks are for.

Also you can do that in the title as well like mine I'd the Galactic Republic. "It's the thought that counts"

“The reason that the Aggies does so well in wartime, is that war is chaos, and the Aggies practices chaos on a daily basis.”

That doesn't change anything for the issues though. I'm a Constitutional Republic yet my legislature is referred to as a "Parliament". I'd like to see something where you can go into the options and actually name it for ourselves, just like we can with the capital, religion, and leader

Because Parliament is a neutral term. Even if you are a Constitutional Monarchy then your legislature is a parliament. Any specific name you want to give to it yourself you can add in the Factbook.
The Royal State of Daarwyrth
Forest's Minister of Foreign Affairs

Leader: Queen Demi Maria I | Capital: Daarsted | Current year: 2022 CE
  • Daarwyrth
  • Uylensted
  • Kentauria
  • 27 years old male
  • Dutch with Polish roots
  • English literature major
  • Ex-religious gay leftist

Why not allow us to name it ourselves in the options instead of just in the factbooks? We can name our leader and capital but not our legislature?

Because there's an endless stream of requests for that sort of thing (anthem, flower, leader's title, etc), and the admins decided that three (Leader, Capital, Faith) were enough. Factbooks were put in place for any other custom choices.

That would require not only admin's work in creating a custom field and trigger to launch it, but would also require the Issue Editors to revise the entire issue library (currently in excess of 1260 issues). That's a lot of work so you can have a minor customization of your issue text. Use factbooks.

Exactly. The work required to change something as small as this is gargantuan. If it were something game changing/breaking, sure, it might have been worth the effort. But customisation like naming one's type of government or legislature can easily be done in Factbooks.

One thing I always wanted is the ability to import a raw txt file within a reasonable file size limit and in a given format, to give the game a list of acceptable first and last names to be used in issues.
This nation DOES use NS statistics, but the interpretation for some of them might be a bit skewed.
