Getting way off-topic here... /notamod

On the subject of the thread, it would be really nice if this was implemented as a Notice (which could be disabled in the usual way), as Minoa said...the current practice of TGs for WA resolutions seems to date back from before Notices and is not very useful now.

You weren't being called annoying, and what got you warned was this:
Lothric- wrote:Yikes somebody got all butthurt, did I hurt your feelings because I said something true?

Flamebaiting (which is to say taunting someone in a manner which invites flaming) is an actionable offence.

In general, though, mouthing off to the people who enforce the rules is no better of an idea here than it is literally anywhere else online or IRL.

Luziyca wrote:Honestly, while those telegrams do seem annoying, it's better to know that the results are being changed accordingly than to wake up one morning and find out that your stats have changed without you noticing.

I feel we should not be allowed to block them, because if we can, the mods will be dealing with an angry flood of "why did my stats suddenly change!?" requests every time a WA resolution is passed.

This. The telegrams might be annoying, but the constant complaints from noobs who don't bother to pay attention to how things work and just turn off the "spam" would be even more annoying for the (entirely volunteer) mod team. Burnt out mods lead to bad times, so better to deal with the easily deleted TGs than to allow blocking them and have that mess on the hands of the people who then turn around and deal with rulebreaking.

It could be a bit annoying for those of us who RP in the GA forum, too: Noobs saying that their [WA member] nations do something, being told that that something is against a passed resolution, and claiming that "nobody told us before": At least with these TGs being automatic it's less 'reasonable' for them to try claiming that regarding any resolutions that passed since they joined the WA...

Maybe, try not to troll with your "incoming, more annoying smiles," and 'butthurt'.

I support this, it gets rather annoying seeing it in my telegram. Besides who cares about the WA... the only fun part is endorsing people, Chief.

Also I really like the arguements against this from the mods, "We don't want this because it means more work from us, the noobs will be complaining"

Actually, thats completely wrong. Seeing as how this would be an option to disable telegrams, you'd have to know what you are doing and what they are to disable them. You don't hear noobs complaining about Recruitment Telegrams or any of the other blockable TGs, so how is this any different?

Maybe the mods should quit being so lazy with this "it's more work for us" and get the game devs/whatever to implement something simple

I would disagree with the many statement, a lot of people on this platform are inactive and have lives outside of Nation States. I mean No disrespect to the people that focus on WA, Chief.

Also, somehow this thread was blown way out of proportion and we derailed from the original topic.

I'm quite disagree, WA seems pretty active so far from my perspective. I dont think violet will ever implement "blocking system TGs" in near future.

Recruitment doesn't change your stats. Nor do any of the other blockables. WA proposals, however, do. Pop over to Technical and/or Got Issues? to see how much noobs like to bitch about "random" stat changes.

You also gravely underestimate how much is already on Moderation's plates and how little time the mods have. Remember, they don't get paid. This isn't their day job. They have lives outside of NationStates. There's a good reason the admins don't implement every suggestion that comes to them.

Out of curiosity, How do suggestions get implemented? How does that whole system for the staff work, Chief?

You know, I might take you more seriously if the "Chief" at the end of every one of your posts in this thread didn't give the distinct impression that you're just trying to stir the pot rather than have a serious discussion.

That said, suggestions get implemented based on what the admins believe would be sufficient benefit for the site as a whole and not burn out the rather small group of volunteers that deal with the back end shit to warrant the increased workload in member complaints and explaining the same damned thing to thousands of noobs because they can't be arsed to learn how the game works on their own, and the coding, recoding, and inevitable bug fixes implementing said suggestions involves. Working with coding, especially to add functions and/or buttons, is rarely as simple as end users tend to think, and, with a site as large as this one, even a small percentage of users bitching about how no one told them their stats would change or that a new resolution got passed after turning off the notifications that would tell them just fucking that is still a shit ton of people to deal with for the maybe half a dozen or so active mods who also have to maintain the site and deal with people constantly breaking the rules (again, a site as large as this means a lot of rulebreaking even if the percentage of rulebreakers is small), most of whom aren't reported because they get dealt with before someone who would bother doing so gets around to it.

But then, it's pretty easy for someone with no moderating experience and a "simple" suggestion that just so happens to be The Perfect SolutionTM to bitch about how the mods are just too lazy to do it instead of, you know, already having to keep this fucking zoo in order and still having turnaround for their existing list of visible demands (Moderation forum, GHRs, etc) ranging from hours to days as it is and understandably not wanting to add to that for a "feature" that will cause more problems than it solves. I mean, it's certainly not as unreasonable as having a handy little delete button on those emails that you get maybe twice in a week, right, chief?

Hey thanks for the advice. I have a habit outside of NS to say chief a lot. I'm usually Voice chatting on discord a bunch. I will take your advice into consideration and I hope I cleared everything up. Thank you, chief.

Is the title of this thread referencing The Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson?

Also, for my own two cents, while I like receiving the WA telegrams, being able to toggle turning off at least the Security Council resolutions would be a nice feature.
