CTEs not showing in activity

Postby Nakarisaune » Sun Mar 03, 2019 8:17 am

I've noticed a few nations that have been deleted in the last few hours, according to the Boneyard, such as Tamil Cholan,No Gay Rights, and
Russian Republican States. However, when looking at the activity page, none of their CTEs are visible (https://www.nationstates.net/page=activity/filter=cte).

Is this a new policy that nations being deleted no longer show up on the activity page, or is it a glitch?

It's neither new nor a glitch. When nations are mod-deleted, we have a "silent" mode which suppresses visible logging. The default behavior is to suppress, and we usually don't see a need to change that. We delete a whole lot more nations than most people suspect, mostly due to offensive names.

This is to keep you from having to see "1 hour ago - Grandmas gaping asshole ceased to exist". You're welcome.

NGL, Fris, I lol'd at that example. And then wondering how she poops made me laugh more.

Out of curiosity, roughly how many nations to the mods delete in an average day?

Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.

There's no such thing as an average day. I just did eyeball statistics of the last month's logs. It's probably between 5 and 50, though there have been days with 1000 or more deleted nations. There are close to 50,000 deleted nations in the last three years or so. I'll leave the math as an exercise for the student.

So about 46, averaged out and rounded. Impressive.

It's not new, but it hasn't always been there. I think the "silent DEAT" checkbox was added a year or two ago.

I've only been a game mod for 2 years and I definitely remember DEATing nations before we had the silent option. It's been a while, though.

Is there any way that these silent DEATs could show in the API Happenings but still be hidden from the Activity page?
