Questionable bid withdrawn during auction

Postby Koem Kab » Sat Jan 12, 2019 5:28 pm

In a bidding war for this card Mesoamerica put a bid at 7.5 to buy a card for 7.25, then I followed up with 2 bids of 7.5 to buy 2 cards for 7.20 and 5.75 and then he put another 7.5 bid. Right before the end of the auction, they withdrew the first 7.5 bid, lining up my bids with the 2 more expensive cards and he got the cheaper card. The auction instantly ended right after. Why was he able to withdraw the bid matched up with a selling offer?

As a tangent to the scenario but just to clarify against the language in your post, when you put up a bid of 7.5 to buy a card, you are signing up to buy that card at a price of 7.5 - not 5.75 or 6.75 or whatever other number the 'instantaneous' displayed matched pair shows.

Sure, at the end of the auction if you are matched up with a lower ask you may not end up having to pay the full 7.5, but you are always committing to the possibility of paying the full amount any time you place a bid. There is no protection against other sellers or buyers entering the auction to adjust your projected sales price other than it can not EXCEED the amount you put forth as your bid.

Once again, this glitch has occured on this card. Mesoamerica was able to withdraw both of their 2 55 bids matched with 2 asks, making their other 55 bid matching with a cheaper ask.
