Does anybody know if your nation description is relative to other nations? For instance, do I earn the "large" adjective in the government paragraph if my government is larger than most other nations on NationStates or are there set values for what is considered large, medium, small, etc?

I can't answer regarding the description of one's government on the nation page as "large", "small", etc., as there have seemed to be inconsistencies with that particular descriptor in the past if I'm recalling correctly. However, a large portion of the top paragraph is based solely on your nation type (New York Times Democracy, Corrupt Dictatorship, Democratic Socialists, etc.); all psychotic dictatorships will have the text 'The <2 describing adjectives> population of <population> <plural demonym> are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."'

Honestly, I'm proud of my psychotic dictator and this gem: "However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, highly specialized black market in Arms Manufacturing and Information Technology."

I'm almost certain there are set values, though I can't say for sure. Most other descriptions on your nation page are based only on your own stats, though, so it would make sense.

I'm pretty sure they're fixed, not relative. Also, the values were set back in 2002 by Max Barry, who thought he was making a little fly-by-night promotional game that would disappear in a few weeks. He was a bit wrong about that.

Someone who consistently answered issues with a "large government" focus could quickly reach the maximum values. If 99% of nations answered that way, 99% would have "large governments". It's not relative.
