@@MAJORINDUSTRY@@ Glitch

Postby The New California Republic » Mon Sep 03, 2018 6:33 am

After thinking about whether to put this in Got Issues or Technical, I decided to ask about this here. It concerns issue number 16, "@@MAJORINDUSTRY@@ Workers Strike!". The issue erroneously says that my nation's major industry is Tourism, even though it really isn't. If I remember correctly, the major industry of a nation is assigned somewhat randomly during its creation, but why? The current major industry of my nation is not tourism, not by a long shot. If anything it is one of the weakest industries in my nation, being ranked 153,753rd out of 157,548 nations!

It just becomes a bit of a farce when the first option of issue number 16 says: "We are the backbone of this country, and we demand a fair wage rise! ... Let's see how well The New California Republic's economy manages without any Tourism, huh?", when none of that is true!

I have had this problem for a while now, but lately after having the issue several times it has really started to irritate me.

The stat named "Tourism" and the tourism industry are two different stats. There is a tourism industry that is a hidden stat, which is separate to the tourism stat. It is possible to have low tourism and high tourism industry, or a low tourism industry and high tourism. They're not considered together.

Besides the point. Tourism is not the major industry of my nation...

The frighteningly efficient New California Republican economy, worth a remarkable 4,761 trillion NCR Dollars a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Retail, and Arms Manufacturing.

Is it possible to get someone on the Issues team to answer this?

You could try asking in 'Got Issues?'
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Yeah I debated whether to put it there or here, but I really don't want to create a second thread for this same thing. I might ask the Mods to move it to Got Issues.

I'm pretty sure the behavior of a macro is a Technical issue. The admins appear to be rather busy right now, though.

Merconitonitopia is correct. Your nation does indeed have a large tourism industry, and in game stat terms it represents your largest industry.

However, up front and visibly, you also have almost no tourism.

The main problem here is that historically, the size of your tourism industry doesn't affect the amount of tourism your nation has by anywhere near enough, while other factors - most notably the quality of your environment - have a disproportionately large effect.

This is a known simulation deficit, and there's been a beta in place to fix this for a very, very long time. However, like most of the other sim fix betas I suggested, they're currently in limbo, and unlike most of them it hasn't been moved from private to public yet. I don't know when the live date on this much-needed fix is, but in my mind its certainly up there as one of the most important ones to sort!

In the meantime we just gotta be patient, while the tech admins / coders find time to look at these things again. For now, just consider it a known bug.
